BECKLEY, W.Va. -- An inmate will spend an additional year in custody for escaping from a federal prison camp in Raleigh County.
Randy Fay Prentice pleaded guilty in October 2012 to escaping from the satellite prison camp at Federal Correctional Institute Beckley the previous month.
U.S. Attorney Booth Goodwin says Prentice received a one-year sentence Wednesday.
Prentice was serving a sentence of more than six years at the time of the escape. U.S. District Judge Irene C. Berger ordered the escape sentence to run consecutive to that term.
Minimum-security satellite camps provide inmate labor to the main prison and to work programs off-site.
