Disturbing: Voters pick convict
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- It's disgusting that 72,544 West Virginia Democrats dislike President Obama so intensely that they voted for a Texas prison convict instead in Tuesday's primary election.
Of course, most didn't know they were choosing a criminal. They simply picked "anyone but Obama." The inmate outpolled the president in nine counties. Further, about 25,000 other West Virginia Democratic voters skipped the presidential race entirely.
Although Obama easily won, it's nonetheless a blemish on the state that Keith Judd -- confined to a federal cell -- took 41 percent of West Virginia Democratic votes, almost the same number garnered by Republican Mitt Romney.

Now is this really sad commentary on the POTUS, the Presidential wannabee, or the "thinking" of the people of West Virginia?
As for Judd's application being accepted by Ms. Tennant, I agree with the Gazette's question - why was he allowed on the ballot at all? Did anyone in Ms. Tennant's office check whether he met eligibility requirements? If not, why not? If so, if they knew he's sitting in prison, why would they not go to a judge, then, to have him ruled ineligible?
I love West Virginians. Mountaineers are truly free! I am proud of each and every one who voted to send that message.
Democrats in case you missed it - the issue is JOBS, JOBS, JOBS. The kind of good, skilled, well paying jobs that a war on coal and other domestic energy kills. Of course, that is the one thing Obama can't talk about.
She's apparently not up to the job.
Take a good long look in the mirror editor. If they didn't know Mr. Judd is a convicted felon; why didn't they? Many West Virginians unfortunately depend upon the disinformation printed in this newspaper. That's why!! You are supposed to be informing the public in an honest manner, especially as it relates to political matters. But, you cannot help yourself. You have sipped at the fountain of the PC crowd until you no longer want good clean drinking water. It doesn't suit your tastes anymore. Time to wrap up your paper and move to the San Fran area. They will love you there!
You would expect a stat. like that to be under-reported, for most people do not own up to being racist.
The cause of this election result are glaringly obvious.
For those claiming it was a protest of the administration's "war on coal," consider WV is mining more coal than ever, and employment in the mines is at a 17 year high, despite the trend of increasing mechanization.
This vote was a national, even an international, embarrassment.
"Isn't it interesting that while Judd got 68% (72K vs 105K) of the vote total that Obama received from "thinking" WV voters; the incarcerated icon received 95% of the vote total from diligent citizens that Romney got (72K vs 75K). "

No, it is not interesting. Your post is a desperate attempt to spin this.
Aren't all the people who voted for the felon rather than Obama Democrats? Maybe Independents can vote in the Dem primary but I don't think so.

NPanhandle usually thinks that anyone who has a different opinion from him is a... you chose the string of negative adjectives. Such is the nature of the open minded liberal left. Plus, within their ranks, there is very little room for thinking other than the party line.
Perhaps, James, it might benefit your paper's business model to reflect upon how, once again, you couldn't be more irrelevant to the market you serve.
Or, you can write another elitist editorial that looks down your nose at all your dumb, toothless, uneducated, God 'n' Guns readers.

Save your “tears” because you will really be “crying” when the General election vote tallies are published in November.
"Would have to disagree with Mike Stuart, I was proud of our state and it was a hilarious result. I see Romney winning our state 400,000 to 100,000 against the Obama wrecking crew. So allow me a great laugh - hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha."
Ahh, but the last laugh is the best laugh! Let me give you your props and "our state" crushes President Obama in November 400,000 to 100,000 (which will be far from the case). Where do you see the path for Romney to get the other 265 other electoral votes he'll need to be successful. I can already count 257 sure electoral votes for the POTUS.
Yes, the last laugh is the best laugh, and mine will last four more years! Kinda makes you want to go, Hmmmmmm!
