CARMELO "Mel" Cottone from Logan County is a longtime Democratic Party activist who helped run JFK's famed 1960 West Virginia campaign. Cottone moved to Washington, opened a political consulting firm, and worked with Bill Clinton, Jimmy Carter, Lyndon Johnson and many others.
