Charleston is blessed with capable, conscientious, dedicated leadership that keeps the state capital on a progressive course. Mayor Danny Jones makes good appointments -- and he has done it again by choosing former council member Adam Knauff to fill a 7th Ward vacancy.
Knauff served that ward from 2007 to 2011, but didn't run again because he was needed at home to tend his two baby sons. Now he says the tots have gone through "successful potty training" and he's ready for public duties again.
He was the youngest member of council and is an eager volunteer in local projects. As a board member of the Charleston Land Trust and an officer of the Charleston Area Alliance's Generation Charleston, he spurred volunteers to create public trails in donated woodland behind Cato Park.
We hope council confirms his appointment.
