The paper is out of touch with life
Once again your newspaper has demonstrated how out of touch it is with American life in your May 5 editorial, "Pathetic." As usual, you recite no facts and rely on emotional statements or unsubstantiated claims and accusations.
You accuse the governor and our junior senator of pandering to those who disagree with you and of turning their backs on your beloved, left-wing, extremist political party. You accuse West Virginians of being ignorant. You say we harbor feelings of racial prejudice, all of which are baseless claims.
You recast Obama's self-admitted and oft-stated war on coal, natural gas and timber industries in this country as being motivated by a desire to reduce pollution and "damage," whatever that is. You ignore the effects of this ill-conceived policy on employment in our state and nation, the energy independence of this country, our national security and the overall economic recovery. You accuse natural resources ownership of not caring about jobs, ignoring the fact that without workers, companies would have no energy to sell, and your house would soon grow dark and cold until your noise-polluting, bird-killing, federally subsidized, 8.7 percent energy efficient windmill is constructed. Your ilk would regulate us back to the Stone Age.
You claim Obama's intellect is awesome, which is incredulous. How could you possibly know? His academic records are all sealed, at his behest. He can't even speak to a grade school class without a teleprompter to tell him what someone else has written for him to say! You say he has wiped out most of the al-Qaida terrorist network, which must be news to them. What he does, when a terrorist leader is located, is to kill them by drone-launched missiles instead of capturing them to obtain intelligence. He has dropped the ball in Syria, antagonized the Israelis, ignored the situation in North Korea and Iran, and recently damaged our relationship with China.
Obama did not end the Iraq war. Siege troops commanded by General Petraeus did. But he did withdraw all the troops and leave the largest U.S. Embassy in the world with essentially no protection. Obama owns the Afghanistan "War." He declared it to be, "The Good War," and he escalated the American presence there by thousands of fighting men and women.
You obviously have a grade-school level understanding of business and finance. You must think money grows on trees. I suggest in your uneducated, naïve dream world that you plant more of those money trees, because if the federal tax cuts are repealed and the Obamacare tax hikes take effect you're going to need all you can get. That is, until you receive your "fair share" of the federal honey bucket benefits paid for by honest people who work for a living.
