• The West Virginia School of Medicine in Lewisburg, which is the crown jewel of Osteopathic medical education and whose presence has allowed Lewisburg to become the most attractive small town anywhere.
• Energetic construction of the entire interstate and Appalachian corridors.
• Marshall finally got a four-year medical school.
• Last but not least, the lottery! The lottery has contributed more than $2 billion to higher education and upgrading state parks and creating a better West Virginia for us all.
There are countless other ways Arch Moore improved the lot of West Virginians born and unborn, which will extend into eternity. Before it is too late, please say thank you to Arch Moore, this war hero who never campaigned on his near-death encounter at Aachen while heroically serving the country he so dearly loves. No VISTA volunteer to Emmons for him. He laid his life on the line for his country and nearly lost it and never once mentioned it in his long and distinguished career.
He was convicted of trying to establish a level playing field in the Southern coal counties for his beloved West Virginia. These counties have given us the career Democrat political leaders who controlled Southern West Virginia. Who can forget Ambassador Kennedy's remark, "I'm not paying for a landslide." Republicans are not permitted to trespass upon the stranglehold the other party has upon the coal counties. For doing so, Gov. Moore was punished and placed in a federal prison for three years.
This greatest governor the state of West Virginia has ever produced is now old and failing fast. We should thank Arch Moore for all he has done for us before it is too late. God bless Arch Moore and God bless the United States and the Great State of West Virginia. I am proud to call him friend, buddy and pal. His only sin is he is a Beta through and through. Coming from a Phi Psi, that is a serious charge.
