I thought that all buildings for Kanawha County were smoke free. You can drive down Goshorn Street and see some of the people standing in front of the building smoking and I think some of them are employees.

So you think that if someone can't afford children they shouldn't have them? You must be living in a different century or something. Todays liberals would string you up for saying something like that. They think you should have 20 children if you want and the taxpayers will gladly pay for ALL their needs from cradle to grave.

    And the reader wrote,

If you need a reason to vote against Mitt Romney, consider this. Two of the sleaziest politicians in West Virginia have publicly announced that they may vote for Mitt Romney.

Actually, they said they were unsure if they would vote for B. Hussein Obama. Can't blame them for that enlightening wake-up. And for every reason you can give for voting against Romney, I'll give two reasons to vote against Obama.

The president's goal is to make fossil fuels too expensive to use. Wouldn't you say that philosophy is not a recipe for economic prosperity?

The only economic prosperity B. Hussein Obama wants to see is the demise of coal and a supersurge of solar energy and he's willing to bankrupt the country to get it done.

Thank you for informing us that U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin and W.Va. Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin may not vote for President Obama in the coming election. With that news, now I know for sure that I will not vote for Manchin or Tomblin. Both are losers and unfaithful to our state and nation.

Yalk about losers. My great-grandpappy was a democrat, my grandpappy was a democrat, my daddy is a democrat and, by golly, I'm a democrat too. And if you ain't no democrat then you got no business in guvment.
    Shameful!!

Gov. Tomblin and Sen. Manchin have no class. They obviously will do and say anything to be reelected. Saying they "might" not vote for our wonderful, intelligent, President Obama, will force me, a strong Democrat, to vote against them.

Such comedy in this post. See the answer above.

It seems to me that Manchin&Tomblin have both forgotten where their pay comes from&how they got their jobs in the 1st place. They are from a predominantly Democratic state, voted into office on a Democratic ticket by Democrats. The only thing that they are doing is showing how much they tell their business to the Repubs&who knows how much of WVa's business they are sharing w/their Repub friends so that every time a chance for WVA to move ahead w/alittle help from Wash it gets blocked by the Repub's coz they knew it was coming.Money that could have been earmarked to help WVa is then sent to a Repub state.Keep talking fellas, sharing all our plans for WVa&then sit back&blame everything on our President. Why should the President go out of his way to do anything for WVA when 2 members of his own party are gossiping w/the other side like little girls in the lunch room do.WVa showed it's true color when the President was campaigning, definitely not a minority friendly state.

It's not the President's goal to make fossil fuel too expensive to use but to make it safer to obtain&use. If the mines would follow the rules®ulations of the EPA&MSHSA they wouldn't have so many violations&you wouldn't have all the accidents such as the UBB disaster or as many Black lung claims. The hazzards of unsafe mining doesn't just affect the men in the mine but also anyone close to the dust from it&the burn off from it.It's just like the chemical plants before EPA came along to regulate them.Once regulations&rules were put into effect all the chemical plants found other places to put their plants where they could discharge their chemicals into the air&water any way they wanted w/o regard to who it affected. Why do you think there is so much lung disease&cancer in the Kanawha Valley only it's listed in the paper as short or long illness.Just like with the Agent Orange&Mustard gas that is still killing people 40yrs later.

With all the bashing of Pres Obama why has no one posted the fact that he is the 1st Pres to actually pay for use of Air Force 1 when it is used in trips for his run for a 2nd term.So far to the tune of 1.7mil.True,it's not 100% of what it cost to fly AF1 but it is the cost set by Congress. This payment comes from his re-election funds, not the taxpayers as some would have you to believe. As to how much he actually uses it compared to GWBush, please think back&remember how much GWBush used the WH helicopter to run down to Texas. His entourage rode in military planes so they could take cars with them. You just don't get to see that like you do AF1&the helicopter.

    @Touchey

Obama is NOT the first president to reimburse the guvment for his use of AF1 during a campaign for re-election. At a cost of $179,750 per hour to operate, the cost mounts quickly. A presidential campaign is charged the same as someone who would charter a B737.
You hung yourself with your own words, being ignorant of the fact the entire cost is NOT paid by Obama, but by tax dollars. That's my money and yours.
And one more point of contention, Bush NEVER flew the WH helicopter to Texas. Marine One was used to shuttle the president from the WH to Andrews AFB, where he boarded AF1. The B747 was then flown to an airport near Waco, TX. He boarded a marine helicopter, based nearby, and flew the short leg to his ranch in Crawford.
Thanks for the opportunity to set the record straight for you.

"Sen. Manchin and governor can't make up their minds whether they support the President of the United States who was elected as a true Democrat who happens to believe in clean energy which includes clean coal?"

    Umm.....what??

Straight from Obama's mouth: "So if somebody wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can; it’s just that it will bankrupt them because they’re going to be charged a huge sum for all that greenhouse gas that’s being emitted."

The EPA just instituted regulation that requires FIFTY PERCENT cuts in emissions, in a relatively short time frame. Do you realize how ridiculous and impossible that is? Do you realize the money that would be required for that? And do you realize how many of the AEP plants in WV and surrounding states are seriously considering shutting down? This country can't operate without coal power, and Obama is staunchly ANTI-coal. How else would you describe trying to bankrupt coal power plants??

"If Joe and Earl Ray cannot support their party's sitting president then I cannot support them." This is one of 5 comments concerning who Manchin and Tomblin should or must vote for. Since when is it required that they vote for the current president. It is a right to vote for the candidate of your choice not just because someone else says you should, you must,he's a democrat,he's the president, etc. When did I fall asleep and miss the law being changed that we now have individuals who can and do dicate to use who we will and won't vote for. It is none of your business who Manchin or Tomblin vote for. They can write in Mickey Mouse it that suits them. No wonder America is in such a shape, between the administration in D.C.and the garbage spewed by WV voters. Voters who have now decided they will tell their constituents who to vote for and are using blackmail,if they can't support the pres,I can't support them, threats to get their way,it is contemptible. WV didn't support Obama.

The real humor here is that you can't think of a position that resident Obama holds that Romney hasn't previously held, and given his dexterity, will no doubt hold again, when he sees the wind is blowing in that direction.

One further comment regarding Manchin and Tomblin being undecided about voting for our current President in this great Democratic State.

During the past presidential elections, H. Clinton won the WV primaries and republican John McCain won WV during the general elections. That should tell you what the majority of our citizens think of Barak Obama. Maybe Joe and Earl Ray are smarter than you think. Also, I wouldn't worry about all those federal handouts we will be losing. I think President Romney will be very favorable toward WV.
