Seems ironic that the EPA is going after coal, when elimination of neighborhood fires (burning wood, trash, etc.) would do more for the quality of air. The hills almost constantly look smoky here in Boone County. We can do better. Stop the fires.
I totally agree with the [reader] who was talking about the women and how they dressed on Fox News. The men dress properly and the women dress like they are going to the beach or out in the back yard for a suntan, and Megan Kelly is the worst dressed of them all, ... and she is supposed to be a lawyer.
Once again, the Law of Unintended Consequences strikes. Egypt, which is now a democracy, like most Americans wanted, now has an Islamic president. Always be careful of what you wish for. You just might get it.
Let me put it this way: George W. Bush and the GOP Congress of 2000-2002 with their lying us into two wars convinced me to never again vote for a Republican at the national level. No matter how bad the Democratic candidate might be, he or she is a saint compared to a Republican.
Congress [is] where all have earned a master's in hypocrisy, and most have obtained a Ph.D. in the art of self-serving behavior.
Senator Rockefeller is a sorry joke. He could care less about West Virginians or the American people. The only thing he's concerned about is keeping the Democrats in power regardless.
This is toward the caller who had an ad in Friday's paper about Obama and some people would vote for the devil if he was on the ticket, but I'm going to tell you right now if you vote for Obama you are voting for the devil.
I just learned that two of my brothers, both accomplished ultra-distance runners at ages 70 and 65, have contracted leukemia and melanoma, respectively, as a result of toxic chemicals in their workplaces. Women, see to your loved ones who provide the joy as well as the material gifts of your lives. Encourage them to find work away from toxic chemicals.
I am appalled at the criticism of Rahall, Manchin and Tomblin. They're trying to be statesmen in the place of politicians.
If you want to know why West Virginia has been called the most racist state in the country, just read the Readers' Voice.

I am a Democrat and I come from a military family. I never voted for Bill Clinton because he was a Vietnam draft dodger.
Thanks so much for the pictures Scenes from the Week. Thank you for printing them and thank you to the photographers who take them. I really appreciate it.
Stupid are those who vote for a party. Elected people should vote for the people, their wishes, not the party. Sometimes the party tries to overrule the wishes of the people who put them there. So the elected ones need to be strong like the three -- Manchin, Rahall and Tomblin -- who are smart enough not to go along with the crooked party.
Looks like nine schools in the WVIAC are suffering from Oliver Luck syndrome. As is the case at WVU, football is the tail that wags the dog. The reality is that the grass is not always greener ($$$) on the other side.
Richie Robb, Joe Manchin and John Raese are all the same age. Only Robb served in Vietnam, where he was awarded the Bronze Star. Where were the other two?
It was evident some people didn't take their smart pills before making decisions. The comments by the Morgantown fire chief are an incentive for WVU students to burn more couches, etc., in order to break the record.
Concerning these home invasions in Chesapeake, why didn't the victims just shoot the guy dead and then see who he was? Because they don't believe in defending themselves? Serves them right.
Everybody's yelling, "I will be voting for Obama or Romney or neither" ... etc. Well, I got news for you. You won't be voting for anyone when it comes to a presidential election, unless you're a governor, congressman, or senator. The electoral vote determines the election, not the popular vote. Your vote for president counts for nothing.
Virtually every Republican "says" they are against gay marriage unless they have a gay child like Dick Cheney does. Then, since it affects him, he goes against Republican "family values." Why can't Republicans see another side of an issue unless it affects them personally? Because they are selfish, that's why.
Sunday's "Doonesbury" showing Romney happy that 10,000 jobs [that] were destroyed, as his hedge fund made $100 million, should be required reading for every working American.
