Gazette readers are supposed to be somewhat educated. Obama was a longtime member of the United Church of Christ and has spoken openly about Christianity at prayer breakfasts and lighting of the Christmas tree. Do your homework.
I'm a Christian woman, and I would like to know what gives a woman the right to think she can be a preacher or minister or be called reverend when there is only one reverend and that's God. What does she do when she comes to 1 Timothy 2:11-12?
Richie Robb's only qualification to run for U.S. Senate is hubris.
Your Gazette editors should read the Charles Krauthammer column and the Obama quotes in the Saturday Gazette-Mail. It makes their Saturday editorial look stupid.
Does anyone know what the South Charleston city manager is getting paid for? Shouldn't he look into all these deteriorating houses that are being rented by drug people?
I'm calling about a nuisance down at Laidley Field on the state parking lot. One of their light poles is down, and people back into this foundation thing of the light pole, and I think the state needs to come over here and do something about it. Knock it out of there or something because this guy just done $5,000 worth of damage to his vehicle down here at the senior game.
I don't understand how anybody who was born in West Virginia, lives in West Virginia or has family in West Virginia or has any ties at all to West Virginia could possibly vote Democrat.
The Willow Tree senior apartments was really nice, but now I am a visitor and when I get off the elevator on the third floor the smoke is so bad it chokes me up.
I don't see how NBC News stays in business. They have a liberal agenda and they edit stories to fit their agenda. They're about as credible as a rattlesnake.
This is to the person who said he has $156,000 invested in the money market and upset over the $38.30 then asks if that's normal. I'll tell you what's not normal. What is not normal is him telling everyone how much money he has.
Because of coal, West Virginia should have been in the top 20 states in the country as far as finances go. However the money left the state and never came back. Now we're holding the damaged bag.
Did you know that the price of gas would go down more if there wasn't so much tax on gas? Each state has put the price of how much tax they want to put on their gas. That's why the price of gas is so high right now, but I guess it's starting to come down and I'm glad it's coming down. If these states would lower the tax on gas we wouldn't have to pay so much on gas.
This is to Pete Thaw. All schools have good lighting system and cameras, so if all of those overtime employees that work for the Board of Education like to work so well at night put them all on the night shift.
I visited Welch on Sunday and filled up with gas for $3.35. Returning to Charleston, the price is still $3.59. Now Welch is quite a bit off the main drag, so can someone explain to me why the same gas cost 24 cents more per gallon in Charleston? Why does it always cost more in the Kanawha Valley? Shouldn't our attorney general look into this constant price gouging?

Let's see. We don't have money to finish U.S. 35, we continue to rob taxpayers of their savings to put it in states savings -- i.e., the rainy day fund, and secondary roads all over the state are falling about. Now, the same stretch of I-64 between Milton and Barboursville is getting paved again -- the third time in the last six years. I just can't connect the dots and figure out whose brother-in-law of a state official is getting rich off of this.
Some parts of Europe are going through the same type of recession that the U.S. did in 2007-2008. We are slowly recovering, they will too.
So Republicans want to do away with Social Security and Medicare because they are "socialist" programs. I suggest they also quit driving on interstate highways, using public libraries, hunting or fishing in national parks or forests, sending their kids to public schools or ever calling fire departments or police for help.
Ms. Giardina is a so-so author of fictional stories. She is not an expert on mining or economics. Her stories and speeches are nothing more than opinion. The recent Gazette piece on her speech and her books is nothing more than free advertising to get liberal tree huggers to buy her fictional stories.
If you consider "Doonesbury" a reliable source of news or opinion, you have no business voting.
Follow the money trail. I'll bet that the money trail to those expensive routers will lead to a friend of a friend of some politician. What else could possibly explain the purchase of useless, unwanted items. I'll also bet that the cellphones that people on welfare received can be traced to some politician or friend of a politician owning the company.
Mitt Romney wants the states to have the right to set their own immigration laws. Is he really that stupid? The Constitution clearly establishes that the federal government has all authority for international laws and borders. I guess that Romney thinks that Minnesota can declare war against Canada, or Texas against Mexico. What a snob!
I'm a liberal and I never even thought that President Obama's community organization service was considered "military." That doesn't even make sense. However, serving in the military is serving one's country, no doubt about it, but working with community organizations is also serving the country. Shows how much he wanted to help those in need even as a young man. He should be commended.
I just got back from Myrtle Beach and the gas at one station was $2.86 and the highest I saw was $3.15. What's wrong with this picture? Why is West Virginia so high?
I have mice in my house. I put a pin drop of peanut butter on a mouse trap. I tried on top and underneath it but they eat it without springing the trap. Even bought new ones. Glue traps don't work. No poison because of pets. What should I do?
I have lived in Dunbar for 20 some years and this is the worst I've ever seen our city. We need a change in Dunbar. We can't get anything done. We need a new mayor. We need changes in Dunbar.
There are only about six methadone clinics in all of West Virginia. This is not enough to serve our state. They're expensive. They're hard to get to. They just aren't available to the public. We need more methadone clinics. One in every county. Get rid of the drug problem and save lives.
7 o'clock Monday morning, July 25. There are eight City of Charleston street department vehicles at Fas Chek on the West Side. This is an everyday occurrence. They stay there between 6:30 and 7:30. That's an hour. Then they take an hour lunch in the day. Taxpayer abuse.
To the caller who criticized President Obama for not being in the military, he was too young to have been in the Vietnam War. Mitt Romney is a draft dodger. When the draft ended in 1973, Obama was only 12 years old.
