Twenty million dollars for six years of coaching people to chase a little ball around is absolutely absurd. How much does a real teacher make at WVU, such as those training the next class of doctors?

Mitt Romney opposes tax credits for manufacturers of wind and solar energy equipment, but supports $24 billion in tax breaks for oil companies who are making record profits. So much for energy independence. Poor Mitt, just another rich, out-of-touch Republican who does not relate to working-class Americans.

I read the sports section every morning, and every day for the past week there has been an article about GW football in it. I guess the editor or whoever picks the stories must live in South Hills. Come on, there are other local teams in this area that could use the exposure as well.

In truth, we have no real good choice in this election.

Why in the world do we blame Congress for anything? After all, are we not responsible for putting them in office? Get real.

When did the liberal Democrat forget what the late great John F. Kennedy once said? "Ask not what your country can do for you -- ask what you can do for your country." It's time America remembers JFK's vision -- all of America working together to better our country. This doesn't mean abandoning the poor or demonizing the rich. It means bonding together like the heroic Americans did during World War II.

My father joined the Army at age 17 during World War II, and was in the European Theater by his 18th birthday. He passed on some 13 years ago. He was, and always will be, my hero. Thank you, Dad, for defending my freedom, even before you knew I would be your son.

I am all for feeding and clothing the needy, as God commanded, but when the government is confiscating 35 percent of my income and redistributing it to the half of the population who refuses to work, I will not be made to feel guilty for not tithing or giving to food banks or homeless shelters.

Any potential employer who is considering locating to this state should take a drive past Ravenswood, see the mentality that they will have to deal with if they come here, and keep right on driving.
