Twenty million dollars for six years of coaching people to chase a little ball around is absolutely absurd. How much does a real teacher make at WVU, such as those training the next class of doctors?
Mitt Romney opposes tax credits for manufacturers of wind and solar energy equipment, but supports $24 billion in tax breaks for oil companies who are making record profits. So much for energy independence. Poor Mitt, just another rich, out-of-touch Republican who does not relate to working-class Americans.
I read the sports section every morning, and every day for the past week there has been an article about GW football in it. I guess the editor or whoever picks the stories must live in South Hills. Come on, there are other local teams in this area that could use the exposure as well.
In truth, we have no real good choice in this election.
Why in the world do we blame Congress for anything? After all, are we not responsible for putting them in office? Get real.
When did the liberal Democrat forget what the late great John F. Kennedy once said? "Ask not what your country can do for you -- ask what you can do for your country." It's time America remembers JFK's vision -- all of America working together to better our country. This doesn't mean abandoning the poor or demonizing the rich. It means bonding together like the heroic Americans did during World War II.
My father joined the Army at age 17 during World War II, and was in the European Theater by his 18th birthday. He passed on some 13 years ago. He was, and always will be, my hero. Thank you, Dad, for defending my freedom, even before you knew I would be your son.
I am all for feeding and clothing the needy, as God commanded, but when the government is confiscating 35 percent of my income and redistributing it to the half of the population who refuses to work, I will not be made to feel guilty for not tithing or giving to food banks or homeless shelters.
Any potential employer who is considering locating to this state should take a drive past Ravenswood, see the mentality that they will have to deal with if they come here, and keep right on driving.

Is Romney nuts? Didn't he learn anything from McCain picking Sarah Palin? He just made it much easier for Obama. Ryan appeals to the right-wing fruitcakes -- there just aren't enough to get them elected.
Anyone who likes the choice of Paul Ryan as vice president because he is a fiscally conservative budget balancer had better check the facts. According to the U.S. House of Representatives Budget Committee, that's right, the committee chaired by Paul Ryan, his budget would increase the national debt by $3.01 trillion by 2022. It also lowers taxes on the wealthy and raises taxes on everyone else.
Several people who get a lot of undeserved publicity are: Tiger Woods, who is finished as a competitive golfer; Tim Tebow, who will never be a top-flight NFL quarterback; and Danica Patrick, who has won nothing. And I won't even mention Dale Earnhardt Jr., who, if his name were something else, would be parking cars as a valet.
General Motors stock is going in the tank. The Volt is a colossal failure, and foreign sales are waning. How long before President Obama has to bail them out again?
Gun dealers are hoping President Obama is re-elected. More guns have been sold to private citizens during the last 3 1/2 years than any other time in our history. Concealed gun permits are up as much as 161 percent under Obama.
The first time I registered my telephone number with the national do-not-call system a few years ago, I never received any or very few telemarketing calls, but after my first registration expired and I re-registered, I now receive call after call. Does anyone know why the do-not-call list is being ignored by telemarketers?
Anyone approaching the age where they will receive Social Security and be on Medicare is a fool if they vote for Romney and Ryan. If elected, goodbye to Social Security and Medicare, and hello to buying any help in your old age from an insurance company. If you have ever tried to get benefits from an insurance company, you know what a hassle that is.
Now all of the NRA gun nuts are in a real dilemma. The Democrats want to take away their guns, and the Republicans want to take away their welfare. If the Republicans win, you will have to live in a tent and use your gun to hunt your food.
The "swiftboating" of President Obama is beginning with ads produced by the GOP criticizing his killing of Osama bin Laden. Disgusting.
People do not know where to go when they get off the Washington Street exit. I know that roads are marked with the white lines to indicate the lanes, but no one notices. I have almost been sideswiped so many times. Is there anything that could be done to indicate in which lane people need to be driving? Also, at the interstate exits where it says 30 mph, I don't think it means you have to hit your brake at the exit and suddenly get down to 30 mph.
