I have a message for all the Democrats out there that are considering voting Republican. Let me ask you a question: How many Republicans do you think will vote Democratic? Zero. But there's no Republican going to vote for a Democratic candidate.
I'd like to see some statistics on divorce rates comparing that to whether the woman took the man's name when they got married.
Romney, Obama embrace coal in today's Gazette paper. Well, Romney might, but Obama is the reason West Virginia's coal status is in the wreckage that it's in because of his fact of making his promise he would ruin the coal, and he has done a very good job of it.
I have to say we have two very bad choices for the next president. Our system has produced two candidates who say nothing about nothing of importance. We will continue to fiddle while Rome burns no matter which one is elected. My country is in deep, deep trouble. We are the problem!
I have worked for 56 years and have paid a chunk of my hard-earned dollars into Social Security every payday with the understanding that when I became the age I now am, I would receive a monthly payment from Social Security on the money that myself and others contributed. I didn't become "entitled" to it, I earned it!
Thank you, MyZ TV for putting Andy Griffith back on.
Thank you, Gazette sports section and sports staff, for printing the final and points spread section. It is nice to see what the spreads are among the teams that are playing each other.
If Wal-Mart is the largest employer in West Virginia and the number of miners is decreasing every day, why don't we have a Friends of Wal-Mart group? Why isn't anyone concerned about the low wages they make at Wal-Mart or the lack of benefits?
Someone wrote in and said active-duty military don't pay taxes. Get your facts straight, I was in the military for 20 years and we paid federal and state.
I recall during the last presidential election getting emails and hearing people say that if Obama were elected, he and the UN would take away our guns. Well, folks, that hasn't happened. Instead, he has kept us safe at home, ordered the killing of bin Laden, and has done whatever he could, in spite of blockers in Congress, to help the average person.
A big chunk of the Mitt Romney jobs creation will probably be jobs tearing down our manufacturing plants to ship them overseas.
Watching the GOP self-destruct daily: It doesn't get any better than this!
Mr. Romney says that non-federal-income-taxpayers are worthless bums and wants us to elect him so he can eliminate the capital gains tax and become a non-federal-income-taxpayer? Is this guy joking?
Alpha buys two union mines in Pa. These two mines make enough coal that they are closing five non-union mines in W.Va., Ky., and Va. Even at the much higher wages and safety standards, the union miners are worth it. The EPA has nothing to do with the closings. It's the money.
Steve Harvey has got to be the worst host in television history.
This message is for Ed Rabel on the op-ed for Tuesday, Sept. 18. I agree with you, Mr. Rabel. I wish more of our good citizens in the coalfields would read this and not blame Obama for all the misery they have and the coal industry.
The gas prices are definitely going to stay higher until after the election. That way Obama will be blamed. You know, money speaks volumes.
Actually, it was Bill Clinton's failed missile attack on bin Laden that led to 9/11. Look at the timeline.
I disagree with Mr. Rabel of Alum Creek for a lot of reasons, but I really get angry when Democrats lie about losing Medicare under Romney and Ryan. President Obama robbed Medicare of $716 billion. Now who should we fear?
I wonder what would happen if the 105,854 West Virginians who voted for President Obama in the primary election were not to vote for Sen. Manchin or Gov. Tomblin in the general election?
Have you actually read the Romney/Ryan plan? Have you actually seen where they were going to destroy Medicare and Social Security? No you haven't. The kool-aid peddlers have handed you the talking points and like obedient puppets you keep repeating it.
I hate to inform all the politicians and everyone else out there that are saying the EPA belongs to President Obama and that is what is killing coal, well you are wrong. ... The EPA was formed under President Nixon, and I do believe he was a Republican. The EPA is not the cause of coal's demise. It is the abundance of natural gas. ... The greed for the almighty dollar is pushing coal aside, not the EPA or Obama.
So Romney says he's against the redistribution of wealth from those who have a lot of money to those who don't. Yet if elected he will increase taxes on the middle class ... in order to redistribute wealth to millionaires by giving them a tax reduction.
The tape of Romney's comments has been edited. Large section of the conversation has been carefully cut out with no explanation why. The tape of Obama talking about redistribution of wealth is complete and not edited to twist the facts.
Do the people attacking Romney for his $250,000 middle-class statement realize it's the very same comment their beloved Obama made four years ago? I doubt it.
It amazes me how a college student can open fire in a crowded theater with more firepower than we have protecting our embassies around the world. We probably wouldn't use it even if we did have it. It might offend someone.
If people think the Greeks are having a tough time with the euro-imposed austerity, just wait until the world forces brutal austerity on this country. It will be one ugly and painful day in America. Yes it can and soon will happen here!
Gee, I guess a lot of people like Mitt Romney more than he likes them.
Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan have the same compassion for the middle class as Marie "Let Them Eat Cake" Antoinette!
Wow. Children's bathrooms are being mopped. Black ceiling tiles with mold are being replaced. Someone must be coming for a visit to Elk [Elementary] Center.
We tried to warn all you people, especially the coal miners, when Obama said change, that's what he meant. Now that's all you're going to have left in your pocket is change because you're going to be in the unemployment line.
I cannot understand why anybody would say that they need to raise the federal taxes any more than they already are. Why not stop the waste that's going on? All the billions and billions of dollars that's sent overseas. Keep it at home.
This is to the person who's 75 years old and no longer can drive or have a driver's license. You can go to the DMV and they will take your photo. ... It's not a license, it's a photo ID.
Coal miners, wake up. The rich coal company owners are juggling their books like Mitt Romney did so they can call in new contractors to work for less and make everything look bad on Obama.
