A select few DOH employees, selected at random, got 10 percent raises while the rest got nothing, and yet where is the outrage? Where are the protesters? Are we just going to let this slide by? I say the ones who got the shaft go on strike the first good snow this season and let the ones who make the big bucks do it all by themselves.

Romney is not referring to our seniors or military personnel concerning the 47 percent. You know the parable of the fisherman -- Obama wants to give all with their hands out the fish; Romney wants to give them pole. There is something to be said for self- sufficiency.

Gov. Earl Ray is out of touch. Obama has never launched a war on coal, and if you keep attacking our president with your Republican ads, no one will vote for you because you are a traitor to the Democratic Party as well as a huge disappointment.

Fed up with presidential candidates? Check out Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson, former governor of New Mexico. He could be the most sensible candidate in 40 years. A vote for him could send a powerful message to our self-serving "we must take care of the stupid" government.

So Congress took a month off for summer break, went back to D.C. for less than two weeks and now on vacation again till November. And these are the people who vote themselves special health care and huge pensions for life.

The overcrowding issue in the schools can easily be corrected: All students must attend in their home school district. Simple enough.

I'm one of the 47 percent that Mitt detests. I earned my small government pension, and I worked harder for 50 years than Mr. Silver Spoon did for the millions he inherited.

I am tired of people blaming Obama and EPA for cutbacks in the coalfields. It is Economics 101. If you can get energy cheaper, you make more money, and if the coal is stockpiled due to warm weather, you can't sell it. The legislators need somebody to blame for not doing the job they're paid to do.

And why would you want to own a $900,000 loft in downtown Charleston when you are right around the corner of serious crime, including shootings?

I get a good laugh every time I hear a politician talk about balancing the budget or "paying down the debt." They can't and they won't. Our day of reckoning keeps getting closer.

Wake up, people: There's a slow train coming. Unfortunately America has dumbed down to the point where the now majority can't think for itself. It's not a Republican problem or a Democrat problem, it's an ignorance problem. Get off the couch in front of the TV and educate yourself.

Saw a Charleston police officer driving while talking on a handheld cellphone and not wearing his seat belt. Normally that would be a double secondary violation. Soon to be a primary. Oh, that's right -- he's a cop.
