Vent Line: Sept. 29, 2012
I had high hopes for President Obama, but I have been disappointed. Just a few months after he was inaugurated, he began going back on promise after promise. And the way he has divided this nation -- it is worse than George Bush did in eight years. This is no way to lead the nation.
The idea that rote religious prayer and corporal punishment being brought back to school would improve kids' behavior is unproven nonsense.
Please don't say that Charleston residents voted on what they believe were top priorities for development on the riverfront in the city. Charleston has 50,000 residents, and less than 100 of those residents attended the open house meeting and voted. It is misleading to say that the majority had the opportunity to vote on specific recommendations and presentations.
In regard to the Majorette and Band Festival on Tuesday night, I'd like to commend Doug Carte and his employees. They were kind and helpful and did the job well.
I agree with the vent about the city ordinances, but not about one of them. My dogs mind me better than your children or spouse minds you, so mind your own business.
Without the Electoral College, West Virginia would have no significance at all in the national election. People should study the drafting of the Constitution.
Please tell Trace Adkins and Mr. Hunt that in 1980 we played Florida in the Peach Bowl, not Florida State. And Oliver Luck was great.
Alan Colmes is another Obama maniac who appears often on Fox News. He is so drunk on the Kool-Aid and now probably drinks Obama beer and looks stunned all the time. He should go to work for CNN or MSNBC and then he could talk about Obama to his heart's content.
The American people are exhausted from Obama's years in office. He has put the majority of American people through the wringer. They can only lie and steal. We don't need them. We need Romney and Ryan to put America back to work.
Conservatives realize that most West Virginians won't give up their right to own guns. But there are also many crazy liberals out there in the United States who want gun control. All you have to do is listen to the Democrat liberals in D.C.
Lowe's in Kanawha City has American flags that are made in the USA.
No matter how much money Romney has, they won't change his character. Let's stay with the good man we have.
Chinese communists will fight to have the jobs kept over there. Don't think they won't.
I want to commend the editors for the beautiful color photos in the paper. It makes reading the paper so much more enjoyable.
No matter how the people vote, Romney will win.

The commercials that say Maloney lived in other states and came to West Virginia for gain fail to mention that is why Rockefeller came here.
Why can't the city put some metal benches under the trees in the lot where the oldies car show is? Us older people need a place to sit and rest and enjoy the show.
I'm very proud of the Sissonville High School students for saying a prayer before the game, and it was handled nicely. They could just announce over the speaker that there would be a moment of silence before the game, and then people of any religion could pray.
I read in the Vent Line today that Romney should outsource his election campaign to China. But Jay Rockefeller and Joe Manchin have beat Romney to China and Japan. The evidence is in Buffalo, W.Va.
Even idiots have the right to free speech here in America. Let freedom ring.
Why do big corporations give money to the politicians rather than having jobs for Americans?
We need a memorial at West Virginia's Capitol Complex honoring the 9/11 victims.
I am 79 years old and a registered Democrat, but I am afraid of Obama. In his next term he will do ungodly things to our country. Heaven help us all.
I just saw two rear-end fender benders in the space of two minutes. You can't drive with only three feet between the cars and expect to stop on a dime. It is sad.
The Republicans are united more than I have ever seen. They are laying miners off to make it look bad on Obama. The companies aren't going to hurt any. The government will pay the miners unemployment. These operators will do anything to get a Republican back in with no regulations at the Big Branch where the 29 miners were killed.
Let's see if I have this straight about Obama. He drinks beer, smokes, admitted in his book he is a Marxist, is for partial-birth abortions and he ate a dog.
I read where the Springtown, Texas school board allows paddling of students. They have far less discipline problems and less dropout rates. I hope this policy catches on and also bring prayer back.
I saw an ABC news interview where they kept pushing Romney, but they never do that to Obama. I don't believe the pollsters saying that Obama is ahead of Romney.
If the students at Sissonville High School want to pray before football games, they should contact the legislature to get the Constitution changed. There is a reason why we have separation of church and state in this country. Just look at Iran. It appears the church controls everything.
To A.D. on Churchill Drive, thank you so very much for returning my grandson's billfold. That act of kindness speaks volumes about you. Thank you.
