A special-interest-owned Congress has no ability to make or allow any significant cuts to the federal budget. They also have not the courage to propose substantial tax increases. So I guess the deficit disappears by wishing and hoping. It won't be long until we learn what real pain is.

I read yet again the phrase "Kool-Aid drinkers." This is such a nasty thing to say. There were a lot of innocent people killed in Jonestown, and I had friends who were killed and injured on that airstrip. Use of those words is an insult to a terrible chapter in our history. Show some respect.

To the caller/writer who said, "the unemployment rate issued by the government is one of the most doctored and unreliable statistics ever published," where is your proof? Can you back up your statement? If so, how?

Sir, you were tailgated because you tailgated me before passing me going well over the speed limit. You drive like a maniac. Do you think you own the road?

I bet the person who said that Obama should not be re-elected because of the attack in Libya voted for the re-election of George W. Bush after his ineptness and arrogance led to the attacks on 9/11.

Obama's not going to help us seniors! My insurance that I've had for many, many years has already dropped me and my sick wife and directed us to other insurance through Obama's plan, and now a lawyer is picking what policy he thinks is best for us! I want my freedom back! Democrat for Romney!

I just have to think there are more people than me who realize that President Obama won that debate. The other guy was a gibbering fool who knew he was losing and bullied for his own way. My question is, why was the bully chosen over the articulate winner?

Are there any people in this country who are not yet "aware" of breast cancer? Check where your money is going and what it is really doing.

Explain to me why gas went up almost 30 cents a gallon in some places on Oct. 15, 2012, when there is no reason at all except pure out and out greed. If nothing else, this shows you who to vote for in November, because the ones we have in there now have no backbone at all.

Those who want to extend the Bush tax cuts need to face a little truth. The tax cuts were based on faulty predictions of future budget surpluses. They are directly responsible for adding $5 trillion to $6 trillion to our national debt over the last 11 years. Those who want to cut the deficit are the loudest proponents of extending the cuts. That's why nothing ever really gets better.

Maloney's statement that climate change, or global warming, is a hoax illustrates that he is just another ignorant Republican that denies scientific evidence, and to the very real peril of all of us.

Headline reads: "Student loans crush many families." Did these people not realize they had to pay this money back or did they think the government would eventually just forgive it all? People borrow with no idea of how long or how much they will have to pay back. Easy to see how we became a nation of debt addicts.
