The coal mines are closing. Not any fault of Obama, as the coal barons would like you to think. Guns and Bibles are still here, not taken away like you were told. Troops are coming home, not as the GOP would have it. You will have an extended war, education department closed, taxes raised for sure. If elected, the GOP takes us back to the Bush era.

Well, folks, the Mountaineers didn't play no defense this past Saturday, and really you can't blame them because in order for the kids to play defense, they got to have coaches that know how to teach it, and evidently Holgorsen's picks weren't all that great.

I hope you print this. I kind of figure that 14-year-old quarterback at South Charleston High School, Friday night he put up Geno Smith's numbers. I figure if he could do that, do you think West Virginia could borrow South Charleston High School's defense for this coming Saturday? It might work.

Please inform us, Gazette, which night the children are going trick or treating on. This is the only point of the "holiday" of Halloween, which is otherwise a completely meaningless and idiotic "holiday."

The new mayor of Nitro said he was going to hit the ground running on his first day in office. Could you tell me what he has done except fire the police chief? We don't even know what he looks like.

Paul Ryan stopped by a soup kitchen to wash dishes. No one was there so he washed a pan to show he was in touch with the "47 percent." We need to call him what he is: a liar!

I am surprised that the Putnam Farm Bureau officers did not endorse Joe Reeder for Circuit Judge. Reeder and his wife grew up on farms, and Reeder was a member of the FFA. He is a staunch supporter of the agricultural community in Putnam County and this lack of endorsement does not reflect the opinion of most of the area farmers.

To all those voters who allow a single debate to change their minds, it just proves that Americans have the attention span of a gnat.

To the reader calling for review of Biden's finances, there's this great thing called Google. His net worth: $262,500. One, hardly a rich guy. Two, far lower than the hundreds of millions Romney has, but you seem willing to ignore. Three, he disclosed his 10-year financials. Mitt did not. Four, he's not running for president. The truth is sometimes inconvenient.

I just want all you folks out there drawing Social Security to be careful when you go to the store. If you buy two gallons of gas and a gallon of milk on that big raise we're getting, you're going to have to add a dollar to it.
