It's a sad state of affairs when Boy Scouts has come to mean scouting for boys.

I don't know which school (George Washington or South Charleston) has the better educational system, unlike the mothers quoted in the Gazette Friday, but it is obvious where the arrogant parents are.

Tagg Romney shouldn't be upset by Obama calling his father a liar. Willard Mitt Romney is a liar.

Romney doesn't need a lot of ads. He's even if not leading in most polls already. After four years in office, Obama has to saturate the landscape and airwaves with ads to convince voters he did a good job. If he was half the president he's trying to say he is he wouldn't need all the ads.

It's hard to understand why any woman could support Romney, who, unlike the president, will not clearly say he will work for equal pay for women doing exactly the same job that a man does. While social justice issues are important, support of economic justice for women is the most obvious indicator of how the candidates value our mothers, wives and daughters.

Romney seems to be proud of being Governor of Massachusetts, but if you take time to read his record you might think different. He changed tax laws that cost businesses 300 million over his four years. His approval rating after four years was 34 percent. No wonder he didn't run for re-election. Is he really who you want for president?

I feel so fortunate to live in a country where not only does the president have time to play golf daily and campaign continuously, but also to comment on a spat between two talent contest judges and encourage reconciliation between them.

Print journalism is on the way out. More and more newspaper and magazine workers will be losing jobs in the years to come. I wonder how Ken Ward will feel when the Vermont economics professor writes a report saying it's not all that bad.

We should hold the defensive coach's paychecks until he starts earning them. ... So far he hasn't held up his side of the deal.

Four hours before the last debate Jimmy Kimmel asked people what they thought about the debate the night before. There was no debate the night before, but they all praised Obama's performance in it. If there was a test before voting, most Obama supporters would fail.

Hey Oliver, your football improvement and upgrade package ain't looking so good.

It's easy to sit back in your computer desk chair and condemn coal mining when you don't have a dog in the hunt. When the coal industry dies there won't be a need for so many doctors, lawyers or educators in this state because there won't be anybody living here.

Now can we fire the defensive coordinator or do we need another team to hang 50 on us?

The Supreme Court must reverse their decision that corporations are individuals.  Campaign limits must be reinstated to eliminate the ridiculous spending to elect politicians.  The billions spent on the current national, state, and local campaigns would go a long way towards hiring employees/reducing unemployment, improving the economy and reducing the deficit.
