CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- How come the NRA has endorsed Mitt Romney when he has a history of supporting gun control? The NRA is controlled by the big money Republicans who only care about money, not guns.

I'm so tired of people calling people racist if they do not go along with Obama. That doesn't make you a racist. I've disagreed with a lot of politicians over my life, and that doesn't make me a racist. I don't care if his skin was purple with pink polka dots, I wouldn't vote for the man.

The Republicans must have been in a coma for the past four years. Obama is president. The way they talk, he's running for the first time.

WVU, you made your big mistake when you ousted poor Coach Stewart. The boys loved him and put their hearts out for him. Think about your big mistake.

The Mormon newspaper endorsed Obama and Obama is leading at the polls in Massachusetts by 25 percent so the people who know Romney the best don't like anything about him. That should tell people what kind of person he is.

I believe the SSAC should use some common sense in their final ruling concerning Elkins' ineligible player. I have no special interest in Elkins football, but feel badly for the transferred player who is homeless and the rest of the football team. The existing rules, I believe, were not meant to cover this situation. Randolph's superintendent said no one was cheating and he would accept any blame. The team should not be punished.

Can someone explain to me why gas is $3.67 a gallon in Dunbar and the same gas is $3.78 to $3.80 at the two gas stations on Campbells Creek? Does it cost 10 to 15 cents a gallon to haul it that far, or are we getting ripped by the gas stations and our government representatives? You decide.

Can one even imagine being governed by a party of people who honestly believes that rape of a woman is "God's will?" This has to be the sickest and most repulsive comment ever uttered in a campaign. Anyone who claims religion and would support this venom better do a lot of thinking and praying.

My tire blew out on Washington Street the evening of Oct. 24. A very nice man stopped and helped me change it. My 74-year-old bones appreciated it very much. I didn't get his name but I would like to say "thanks." He proves there are still lots of nice people in this world.

One Republican congressman says rapes are legitimate, another says rapes are ordained. If Mitt wins, it will be open season on women.

Joe Manchin says if a new school, road, etc., is built in West Virginia, it won't be burned down or blown up. Well, duh! How insightful! Talk about being an "expert on the obvious!" Maybe Gayle cut a little too deep on one of Joe's recent haircuts.

To all those who think Romney has such a great track record: In Massachusetts he left the state 47th in job creation and $1 billion in debt. Also, for you gun owners, he created a ban on assault weapons, and that's something I know gun owners do not want.

To the person who was worried about God and guns, it's been four years and you still have them. A legitimate worry would be what Mr. Romney plans to do about the 47 percent who have Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, veterans or any type of assistance program.

I drove from Beckley to Charleston on the Turnpike Sunday evening, and along ... great stretches of the Turnpike there the speed limit is 70. When I held my accelerator right on 70, every vehicle on the road passed me. This is a frightening thing, particularly when the semi-trucks pass you when you're doing 70. ... It's totally unsafe.

If old Stew made it to heaven, I'm sure he's looking down at the boy wonder and Ollie with a big, big smile on his face.

I see The Gazette has endorsed some of the most corrupt politicians in the state. Way to go, Gazette.

This is to the reader that said Obama would not get credit if the gas prices drop in the next few weeks. Sure, he'll get credit, but don't you find it suspicious that they do it right before [an] election? Duh.

You wouldn't go to a surgeon who knows nothing about medicine, so why would you vote for a person running for commissioner of agriculture who knows nothing about farming? I'm a Democrat and I'm voting for Kent Leonhardt. He's a farmer and he knows his peas, potatoes, grain and livestock.

If Obama should be re-elected, God forbid, will everything that goes wrong in the next four years still be George Bush's fault?

For pete's sake, people. The Congressional Budget Office has reported repeatedly that the claim that $716 billion was "taken out of Medicare to pay for Obamacare" is simply not true. The CBO says Obamacare will reduce spending by $716 billion, most of which comes from changes to provider payments and correcting overpayments to private insurers. Does no one who calls in here read?

Of all the things the Romneys could invest in, why would they choose voting machines?

I'm in shock. Parent from South Hills is scared her child will lose "middle class values" going to school in South Charleston. I thought we were middle class in South Charleston. Now I find out I'm low class, according to some South Hills soccer mom.

Just once I wish voters in this state would try to figure out a candidate's platform, values, and background before they vote rather than just simply voting for them because daddy always does, they gave a nice speech, or gave them some kind of trinket.

I cannot believe people who would sell their homes at a loss just so their children would not have to go to one school over another. What kind of silent bigotry are you showing your children?

Thank you to the lady in front of me in the Washington Street East McDonald's drive-thru line this morning for buying my breakfast. You made my day and I'll be sure to pay it forward.

Those who have not seen the brand new auditorium at Greenbrier West High School should take advantage of the Greenbrier Valley Theatre production of "Always Patsy Cline" Oct. 29. This will be the first public arts performance in the state-of-the-art facility and the price of admission is a donation. Then you can thank the voters of Greenbrier County and the state SBA for funding the school's reconstruction.

To the 80-year-old caller -- President Obama did not take $716 billion out of Medicare for Obamacare. Methinks you have listened to Fox for way too many years.

Thank you Rahall for voting 94 percent for Obama's bills. If the Republicans in the house had not signed a pack to vote against every bill that Obama presented to them that helped the middle class because they wanted to make him a "one-term president" our country would be a better country today. All of the Republicans should be voted out of Congress. ... That goes for Capito, too.

You coal miners are not aware of the fact that Mr. Romney and the Republican Party is 100 percent against collective bargaining. Please keep up with what is happening to America with this party.
