Readers’ Voice: Oct. 27, 2012
I am no Barack Obama fan, but I think he would be suited for head of the United Nations. But as far as president of the United States, he's not suited for the job, and he's just not a leader as far as leadership, as far as being commander in chief of our military.
President Obama need not show or tell us his plan for recovery. We've already seen what he's capable of the last four years.
For Mitt Romney, a man who is worth $240 million running for president of the United States and having his millions in foreign banks to keep from paying income tax and helping us with the deficit is enough to not vote for him. That is very un-American. Who does he think he is?
Big Bob on Fox News' "The Five" show is a disgrace to the other four.
The people suggesting that we wake up and legalize marijuana need to take another toke and go back to sleep.
Why is the Gazette taking on poor Jimmy "Jingles" Justice? Don't you guys realize he is the savior of this state? Rules do not apply to him, whether it be the Greenbrier casino or permits for his [coal] operations. If he doesn't want to do it, he's not going to do it, so just leave him alone.
I, for one, truly appreciate the Readers' Voice. Every time my wife reads it, it's further proof I'm not the stupidest person in West Virginia.
What is wrong with the Gazette's fascination with GW? There's like three stories in the paper about GW. No stories of any other high school team, then their picture's on the front page. What's the deal?
To the reader [talking about] Catholic priests, Mr. Sandusky and the Boy Scout scandal, [and asking] what is this country coming to: It's not coming to it, it's always been like that. Just the good old boys kept it quiet. It's always gone on.
West Virginia's problem is that we keep voting for the incumbents. Let's show some backbone. Vote someone new in there with new faces and new ideas. See if we can't get West Virginia to climb up from being dead last.
To all you Marshall fans that like to bash West Virginia, just remember, West Virginia at its worst is better than Marshall.
The same people that are slamming West Virginia this week are the same ones that said we would win the national championship two weeks ago. Make up your mind.

In your faith and worship section each Saturday, why do some preachers put their photo in the church announcement? A famous quote says fools' faces are always seen in public places.
Yeah, I think the people in Readers' Voice, they remind me of Romney and Ryan about lying and everything. They say they pick these calls as they go and put them in there. They can't print them all, but they pick certain ones. Well, I've got about 120 in there and haven't seen a one of them.
I am a 72-year-old male. If any of my grandchildren were hit because someone passed a school bus, then I would be the one in jail. They wouldn't have to worry about going to jail. They'd be going somewhere else.
Some people think Mitt Romney is the right person for president, but do you want somebody who says they wouldn't support the poor people and somebody that said that it wasn't their job to take care of the 47 percent of the people? Mitt Romney said this, but now he's saying he will support the 100 percent of the people. He flip-flops.
To the person that said there were not going to be any sellouts for a while up in Morgantown, he's a fair-weather fan and we don't need you up there in Morgantown. You're supposed to stick with your team through thick and thin, in good times and in bad times, so stay home. We don't need you.
To the caller who said if elected, Romney would get rid of all the czars: He will be the czar. Apparently that's what you want. There are no czars now.
Please, please vote for anybody but John Perdue. He's a bully. He would do anything to get a vote.
Someone has their Roosevelts mixed up. Teddy Roosevelt was not the best president we ever had. It was Franklin Delano Roosevelt.
DuPont reported their earnings down 98 percent over a year ago. Some recovery President Obama's got going. It probably won't make the front page of many liberal newspapers.
Why is it so many drivers up here fail to manage to come to a complete stop to get onto the road but always manage to come to a complete stop to exit the road? It's backwards. You come to a complete stop to get on the road. When you're taking a right-hand turn off the road you don't come to a complete stop first.
Isn't it true that when a player gets hurt they put in a backup? I think Geno Smith needs his backup put in. He might not be hurt physically, but he's definitely hurt mentally.
