If anyone has any question as to why the "education system" in West Virginia ranks at the bottom of the list, I would suggest that you observe the "education" of the majority of the state Board of Education and the individual who appointed the current members to their positions. Pathetic to say the least.

Phil Kabler's recent column in the Gazette sheds more light on the actions of the state Board of Education vs. Ms. Marple than any other "read between the lines" explanation that I have seen or heard.

Don't you think that the state lottery commission headed by Ken Greear needs to bend the rules or change the rules to include day trips to the Greenbrier Casino? With all of the casinos opening in all the states around us, help the Greenbrier Casino and its employees, don't penalize it.

Look around folks. All these lines and people "camped out" in front of the retail stores from Monday a.m. until the stores open at midnight Thursday, most if not all, are most surely on the "Obama Handout Plan." It's readily apparent that they could not have a job, but do have money to spend. We pay, they play.

The state BOE's firing of Marple was intentionally scheduled to happen one week after the general election so as not to influence Manchin's re-election to U.S. senator. It will be six years when his Senate seat is up for election again. Will we remember this charade? Someone needs to maintain a list of such events. What steps do the citizens in West Virginia need to take to get an elected West Virginia Board of Education? After all, we elect 55 county boards of education. Why can we not elect a state Board of Education? The current state board has demonstrated a clear need for an elected state board.

Besides two Republican U.S. senators, is there anyone who cares whether the Benghazi attack was at first called a demonstration or a terrorist attack? What difference does it make what it was first called?

I am 45 years old. AARP and Medicare will not stop sending me mail asking me to plan ahead as I will be retiring soon and turning 65 years old soon. Every piece of mail I receive, I call them and explain I am not ready to retire, but the mail continues. I can't take it anymore. Help.

If Governor Tomblin has any backbone at all, he will immediately fire the five Manchin appointees of the state Board of Education and start over with a clean slate. It is these type of incidents in government that makes me campaign for political candidates who are not incumbents to the office or who have served in office for more than ten years. Why do they go and fight wars and kill each other? Why is Hamas shelling the Israelis and the Israelis killing the Palestinians by fighting back? Why did God make people like this? This is something that's bothered me for a long time.

Everybody says that Democrats have taken over the world. Does anybody remember a few short years ago in 1994 after 40 years the Democrats were not beaten, they were routed, decimated. They're right back where they started nearly. You don't have to worry about politicians on either side. They're like cockroaches. They'll survive anything. If we ever have a nuclear war, the only thing left will be cockroaches and politicians.

Well, here we go again. Party time for the state of West Virginia, all you people that put Tomblin back in there. Put the big tent up, getting ready to celebrate and everybody else is struggling. What a disgrace.

On my dislike scale of 1-10, Manchin is a 9.5. The only reason I voted for him is because John Raese is a perfect 10.

West Virginia University will never get any top recruits because we have two of the most arrogant coaches in Bob Huggins and Dana Holgorsen.

Remember, folks, obey the law. Everything you do or say is being recorded from pictures from establishments around the Valley, grocery stores and so forth, global positioning systems which track your every move, so just obey the law and you'll be safe and out of trouble.

Too bad that Ashley Smith, the meteorologist from Fox and WCHS, has left us. She was the best and most personable meteorologist in the area.
