I just left Mount Vernon Baptist Church and witnessed the best sermon ever.

The shape of the bipartisan agreement on the debt is coming into focus. Looks like a heavy dose of smoke and mirrors, accounting gimmicks, the waving of the magic budget wand, all ending with the promise to deal with the big issues next year.

Quit listening to Fox News blaming the unions and check this out: The real reasons Hostess Bakeries went bankrupt were the private-equity owners had loaded the company down with debt, the CEO had tripled his pay, the union had previously taken a big, big pay cut, and economists said the company would have went bankrupt in another eighteen months anyway.

To the caller who spoke of his wife being pulled over for no inspection sticker who wonders about the lack of arrests on drug dealers. There is no money to be made by arresting drug dealers, murderers, thieves and the like. They pull over cars and trump up charges regardless if the driver did nothing wrong. Especially the working poor because there is no chance that they can afford a lawyer and always have to just pay the fine.

Why does it always surprise people that teachers unions are interested in the betterment of their members? And to find that Sen. Manchin has some long-standing grudge against teachers because of some rules he wanted passed not being supported by legislators being responsible to the people who elected them. Now Dr. Marple has paid the price.

Charter schools have proven to be no better than public schools and are a drain on public school funds. Math and science teachers should not be paid more and every teacher I know is evaluated every year at least once. A school board full of political cronies and wives has no business running the school system in this state. No wonder we are so far behind.

Governor Tomblin should ask for the resignation of the five BOE members for their sneak attack on Jorea Marple. They have dishonored West Virginia, making us look like a bunch of rubes.

To the person upset because his wife was stopped for no inspection stickers on a "brand new car" with temp tags. Where did you purchase your "brand new car"? I have never seen a "brand new car" dealer who did not place an inspection sticker on all their new vehicles. I would not have purchased a "brand new car" without a sticker on the windshield.

OK, Republicans, during the George W. Bush administration: In 2002 the U.S. Consulate in Pakistan was attacked and 10 killed, In 2004 the U.S. Embassy in Uzbekistan was attacked and 2 killed, in 2004 the U.S. Consulate in Saudi Arabia was attacked and 8 killed, in 2006 the U.S. Embassy in Syria was attacked and 1 killed, and in 2008 the U.S. Embassy in Yemen was attacked and 10 killed. What's the big deal about the Benghazi attack? Is it because a Democrat is president?

Charleston police has had a cruiser and uniformed cop sitting at Patrick Plaza for a month to deter drug activity. All they've done besides waste tax dollars is push the activity to another location. Why don't they use undercover cops and unmarked cars to actually catch the people and get them off the street? The war on drugs is a joke.

Foreign countries couldn't care less about our respect for Obama. They see Obama for what he is. A very weak world power leader. He's dropped the ball protecting his own home country. Slow to react to events around the globe. Why would a foreign country have any faith in his ability to protect the world?
