For heaven's sake, please tell the state Board of Education not to waste the public's money conducting a national search for a new state superintendent of schools. Clearly they have already decided to appoint Jim Phares to replace the sacrificial Jorea Marple.

Did the person who was so worried about the Boone County deputy sheriff being at Southridge, did you happen to think that it's almost Christmastime and maybe he was getting toys for underprivileged children?

It is wrong to ever think that it is the responsibility of the government to permanently support people's every want, wish and need. If someone needs temporary help to get back on their feet, then do it, no question. But if they think that we owe them to support them for their entire lifetime, they are sadly mistaken and lazy.

Anyone else notice that a lot of TV commercials have gotten very loud since the new law went into effect this week that limits audio level of advertisement and political ads to that of the program audio level? They must be testing enforcement of the new law.

I believe this is the last election we'll see for a while on how much you can give me or what you can give me to get my vote. Fifty-one percent of the people live off of the other 49, and they voted for Obama because he gives them the free stuff. Now the unions and all the stuff is coming to an end, so the free stuff will start going away. They're going to have to go to work.

Hey, you Democrats In Name Only, have some smart Democrat read the Joe Biden editorial page today. Then they can read it to you and explain it to you what it means to all of us. It's bad news.

Many thanks to Bayer at the Institute plant for not having the annual Christmas dinner, a tradition since the plant's beginning. It was the one time we could count on seeing old friends. Merry Christmas to those I didn't get to see.

The water spout along MacCorkle Avenue, which was contributed by the Division of Highways employee not adhering to the rule "Call before you drill" -- are they exempt?

Don't you just love our first black president? He ought to be back in Chicago organizing a block party. It's about the only thing he's ever organized in his life.
