To all you people angered by FEMA's decision in regard to your request for money: Are you the same people that insist that the federal government be reduced and spending cut? Is there a difference between giving you money and giving a poor person welfare? Pay your own bills and quit acting like a typical Republican.
In reference to the county employee using four-letter words reminds me of an old saying: Profanity is the effort of a feeble mind trying to express itself forcibly.
Why are so many people on welfare who don't need to be? You trace it back from generation to generation and they just know how to beat the system and that's what's happening to part of the money that could be used for something better. God help the ones who really need it, but God is going to get even for the ones who don't.
I am sure that the reader who called the Bible a "manual" primarily was referring to the teachings of Jesus. Think about it.
No one seems to want the government to cut any program that affects them. The $100 billion a year across-the-board cuts scheduled to happen in January are deemed too severe and likely to be cancelled. The only other option is a significant increase in taxes for everyone. Not likely to happen, either. So we pretend to do something without actually doing anything and continue on our way to economic collapse.
Drug addicts take things to support their habit and they get caught and judges just put them in jail. What about some ordered drug intervention? Wake up, judges, and help take care of the root of the problem: drug addiction!
Men's catheters? Don't forget ear-wax vacuum cleaners, women's mustache shavers (yea that's a no-no alright), mesh whatever, and more. Whew, no more TV dinners for me!
People who are advocating for "right-to-work" laws should watch the movie "Matewan." It should be required viewing in every high school history class. We have such short memories.
To the guy who dislikes unions and thinks we don't need them anymore, you have your head buried in the sand. The younger, spineless people have almost lost everything that was gained over the years. The Republicans and corporations have almost turned you into [people making] $4 a day.
Is there anywhere in Teays Valley to take leaves and branches to get rid of?
The DOW stock market average is up 90 percent over the last four years. Thank you, President Obama, for saving our country from the do-nothing Republicans.
Read that China built a 35-mile highway in Africa. Putnam and Mason counties should apply for Chinese foreign aid to finish upgrading the 14 miles of [U.S.] 35!

I watched a few excerpts of that show "Buckwild." I don't know why everybody is offended. There is absolutely nothing that we haven't all done before, including Manchin. Unbelievable that they're complaining about a TV show and don't worry about a gas explosion. West Virginia.
Everyone remember it was government, government employees and volunteers that responded to the gas line rupture. I am talking [about] state and county employees working together. They have been trying to serve the public. Government did not cause the gas line rupture. Great job, employees and volunteers.
The honorable Judge Watkins from Putnam County deserves to be put off the bench after all the mental anguish, heartaches [and] expense he has caused some people that went before him. ... He has torn a lot of families, their homes up and their children.
Thanks to the reader for pointing out grammar errors. In Thursday's paper the second paragraph of the Union Mission story started out with a dangling participle.
To the person who said unions protect lazy, unproductive workers, I'm a union construction worker and I do more by 9:30 a.m. than you do all day. You couldn't carry my tool bucket.
The picture of the proposed gate for the East End looks like the gateway to a cemetery. Is the message that they're trying to project that the East End is dying or that people on the East End are killing each other off?
I, for one, am very concerned about Dr. Marple's firing. It's a disgrace to West Virginia. It's a disgrace to Kanawha County, and I really wish those Manchins, Joe and Gayle, would stay out of West Virginia. They just make matters worse. Send them back to Washington and I'll never vote for ol' Manchin again.
If a person doesn't want to belong to a union, he shouldn't be forced to pay dues, but if he's to be represented by that union, he should be forced to pay the cost it entails.
To the person calling in about Shelley Moore Capito and Paul Ryan's budget: First of all, Paul Ryan's budget did not increase the national debt by $6 trillion, and Slick Willie, yeah, the budget was balanced in his last term, but he had a Republican Congress and Slick Willie was smart enough to listen to them. So get your facts straight.
