For over thirty years I have dealt with union and non-union businesses. In my honest opinion the non-union workers are harder, more productive workers and the companies are much easier to work with.

Does anyone know of an optometrist in the Charleston area that carries extra-wide eyeglass frames that are stylish and reasonably priced for women?

Asking if we want teachers armed and prepared to defend students, reminds me after 9/11 the issue arose about arming pilots. G.W. Bush opposed that idea, saying we would just shoot down the plane.

Republicans are more concerned about our children and grandchildren inheriting the national debt than they are about them being murdered by a crazed nut using an assault weapon.

Teachers are told to lock the door, darken the room and hide kids in the corner during a Code Red. I have a great big closet with a door that locks which would be much safer in a real emergency, but probably less safe in a drill, than putting kids in the corner. Teachers should be able to use discretion and take kids to the safest areas of the room in a real emergency -- just like the teacher from Sandy Hook who put the kids in the restroom.

No politician should be allowed to oppose gun control unless he or she is willing to let guns into the Capitol building, the galleries of Congress, or the White House, depending on their office. If we have to live with them, they should have to also.

Two more idiots with guns on the rampage last week. Thirty-four murders by guns every day in the U.S. When are we going to stand up and do something about this?

Liberals love to proclaim their 'pro-choice' beliefs except when it comes to joining unions.

To all you union haters: I would like to see all of you paid by company scrip and be required to live in company housing.

One guy tries to board a plane with a bomb in his underwear and everybody now has to be scanned or patted down to get through security. Thirty-one school shootings since Columbine and we do nothing.

I see the psychopathic and lumpish Republicans speaking daily against the defenseless poor in our society without just cause other than policies they themselves created. It's their financial policies that pay the poorest workers a minimum wage below the livable amount. Capito and the tea party of the GOP voted against a jobs bill that put us in this situation.

Keep Dr. Marple. Fire the incestuous state Board of Education.
