How many times during the election did we hear the Democrats say the GOP would hurt Social Security, Medicare and other needed programs? If you notice it is now the Democrats threatening cuts to all those programs trying to force the GOP to bend to their "raise taxes/no budget cuts" plans.

A man kills his grandmother. He goes to prison for 17 years and is released to kill again. How many times have we heard these stories? Our liberal judicial system is more dangerous than our guns.

With roughly the same amount of mental illness, TV and movie violence and violent games as the rest of the world, why is the U.S. the most dangerous nation in the world? Maybe [it's] the 300 million guns and counting in our midst.

When I ask myself how anyone could possibly think that a Hollywood actor would make a good senator, I remember that Ronald Reagan, a third-rate actor, was twice elected president, and the George W. Bush presidency was a Hollywood production right from the start. Conservatives hate Hollywood liberals, but love Hollywood conservatives.

I agree with Republicans and Readers' Voice callers. We should just keep bad-mouthing poor people until it makes the economy better.

That's right, rednecks, Obama is an idiot. But somehow he seems to be able to always outthink and defeat his genius Republican opponents. Wonder how he does that?

They will take my guns when they pry my cold, dead fingers from around them. My family will be protected.

A CSPAN program on Dunbar native David Corbin's book, "The Last Great Senator," showed how two majority leaders -- Democrat Bob Byrd and Republican Howard Baker -- put aside partisan differences and made the Senate work. We need people like them today!
