How many times during the election did we hear the Democrats say the GOP would hurt Social Security, Medicare and other needed programs? If you notice it is now the Democrats threatening cuts to all those programs trying to force the GOP to bend to their "raise taxes/no budget cuts" plans.
The law says felons can't possess guns. Two firefighters dead, two in the hospital. Gun laws are real effective.
Bring back visible gun holsters and gun racks in pickup trucks. When the bad guys realize they're outgunned they'll quit terrorizing the law-abiding innocents. Who would try to rob a convenience store when they know there's a customer in there with a gun? That kind of gun control would work.
I agree that people kill people, but if people didn't have assault weapons they couldn't kill as many people.
Thousands are losing their full-time jobs and benefits not because they are non-union but because of Obamacare. Unions are safe because of all the money they've pumped into the new and improved socialist Democratic Party.
Well, Mr. LaPierre, since you asked me to: 'You're crazy.'
It's time to call the Tea Party members what they are: They're jerks who care nothing about America.
As a citizen, I would not want this current, appointed West Virginia Board of Education to make decisions about requiring teachers and principals, janitors, bus drivers or cooks to carry guns in our schools. We need an elected state Board of Education before we implement the proposed, soon-to-be-required NRA policy.
Maybe, just maybe, if they did away with all of those silly conference and enhancement days during the school year, and actually had the children in class rather than a day off for no good reason, then the children would not have to start school in early August. Just look at all of the wasted days on the calendar. It is silly.
Bad News: The plan to instruct teachers about how to use guns has failed to gain legislative support. They want the teachers instructed on how to use books first.
I think it would be beneficial and cost effective if healthy and able welfare recipients and prisoners give back by providing manpower for community service programs and projects. We have so much need and with funding for programs and workers being cut, why not make use of those recipients who should be working for their food and housing, just like those of us who are hardworking taxpayers.

A man kills his grandmother. He goes to prison for 17 years and is released to kill again. How many times have we heard these stories? Our liberal judicial system is more dangerous than our guns.
With roughly the same amount of mental illness, TV and movie violence and violent games as the rest of the world, why is the U.S. the most dangerous nation in the world? Maybe [it's] the 300 million guns and counting in our midst.
When I ask myself how anyone could possibly think that a Hollywood actor would make a good senator, I remember that Ronald Reagan, a third-rate actor, was twice elected president, and the George W. Bush presidency was a Hollywood production right from the start. Conservatives hate Hollywood liberals, but love Hollywood conservatives.
I agree with Republicans and Readers' Voice callers. We should just keep bad-mouthing poor people until it makes the economy better.
That's right, rednecks, Obama is an idiot. But somehow he seems to be able to always outthink and defeat his genius Republican opponents. Wonder how he does that?
They will take my guns when they pry my cold, dead fingers from around them. My family will be protected.
A CSPAN program on Dunbar native David Corbin's book, "The Last Great Senator," showed how two majority leaders -- Democrat Bob Byrd and Republican Howard Baker -- put aside partisan differences and made the Senate work. We need people like them today!
