I just can't understand the NRA's reasoning. They say more guns makes our country safer. We have at least one gun for every man, woman and child in the United States and we have the highest assault rate in the world. It's just mind-boggling.

Who would have guessed, a week before New Year's when people are going to be traveling, the crooks at the oil companies raise the prices by 20 cents a gallon. They have to be the crookedest people besides our elected officials that take advantage of the working class.

The welfare rolls need to be purged, because there are a lot of people receiving welfare benefits who should not be receiving them. People evidently know how to work the system. The requirements ought to be tightened up a lot.

If Capito wants to help the miners, then she should compose a mining bill, not send a bucket of coal to the White House. We are sick of the games and gimmicks. We want adults in Congress who problem-solve and compromise.

I worked for Appalachian Power Co. in the coal mines. I also worked for Eastern Associated Coal Co. and Peabody Coal Co. Now they've transferred me to Patriot Coal Co. in my retirement and are threatening to take my benefits away. This is not only unfair, it's fraud.

Joe Manchin is racing for a shot at the 2016 Democratic presidential nominee lickety-split.
