The state's so-called "flagship university," WVU, has managed to embarrass the state again by allowing Syracuse University to make it a three-peat over the Mountaineers.

I wish the Gazette would do an article on what it would take to limit the terms of state and national representatives and senators. Also, I would like to know what it would take to get an elected [state] Board of Education instead of what we have now, a Manchin- and Tomblin-controlled state board.

Shelley Moore Capito sided with Eric Cantor and his Grover Norquist obstructionist agenda and voted against the fiscal cliff measure. Charleston Newspapers won't tell you that.

People say that you won't have mass murders if you take away law-abiding citizens' guns. Well, guess what? Timothy McVeigh killed 168 people and did not use a firearm. Taking guns away from law-abiding citizens will in no way stop mass murders. People kill people.

The Gazette's twin stories, "Saving Dollars, Saving Lives" on New Year's Day is the most recent example of your helpful, instructive news reporting by Kate Long, whose writing deserves wide attention for good municipal stewardship. Thanks.

To the person wanting to know about suing the U.S. military for her son becoming a homosexual because his wife cheated on him, he probably was homosexual before this happened and this is his way of "coming out" to everyone. You cannot sue the U.S. military for this type of action.

Every worker in this state and any other state has the right to work. They have the right to choose a job that is part of a union shop or they can find a job that is not union.

As much as I dislike the idea of having yet another Democratic governor, I must say it is refreshing to have one whose face is not plastered on the front page of every newspaper every day and who is not on the TV news every evening.

The entire Congress needs to relocate to the North Pole. That is the full-time residence of the mystical one who gives toys to all without cost.
