It doesn't make sense that President Obama was elected president because of his policies being for concerns of the middle class and low income, but the Republican House speaker acts like a dictator and is against anything and everything Obama wants for us. Adolf Hitler's motto also was "my way or no way."
These people we have elected to represent us are meeting behind closed doors to discuss how much of our money we are allowed to keep as well as every aspect of our lives. I think it is time to open up the discussions so that we can see just what is being done and by whom. We have no rights anymore. I am sick of it.
A heartfelt thank you to the multitudes of people who reached out this past week to help us find our beloved dog, Sandy, who was lost in Kanawha State Forest for six days. A special thanks to Lorrie and Randy Burdette who went out to look for her, found her and brought her to us alive and well. There are truly angels on earth.
For those of you so down on AEP and getting electric restored, I have been waiting over two months to get a new light bulb in a streetlight. If they can't change a light bulb, how do they do anything else?
Why the large discrepancy in gasoline prices in certain areas in West Virginia? Example: In Charleston and the metro area, it's $3.45, and in the Gassaway area it is $3.19. It appears the Charleston-area retailers raise their prices and we have to take it. This has been going on for years and has become the new normal. Just before Christmas, in the Charleston area, prices went up 30 cents overnight. Maybe our new attorney general, Morrisey, can check this out.
Referring to the Vent on Dec. 28, 2012: Nikita Khrushchev also said, "We will bury you" as he was pounding his shoe on a desk at the United Nations. As the uninformed public walks down the wide and smooth path that they have been led to choose, perhaps they should revise the old saying that "Those who ignore history are condemned to repeat it" with "Those who are not taught history are condemned to repeat it."
I'm most proud I voted twice for George Bush. I helped put someone in the White House who had class and didn't act like a 3-year-old thinking because he won the election it entitles him to be a dictator. Bush didn't force the taxpayers to pay for extravagant vacations to Hawaii. Obama is too good for Camp David?
A short editorial in the Dec. 29 Saturday Gazette-Mail lamented the fact that no one has really been punished for the lax security during the Benghazi attack resulting in the death of four Americans, including Ambassador Stevens. Those of us still waiting for George W. Bush and Dick Cheney to be punished for their lax security allowing the attacks of 9/11 really sympathize with you.
Dec. 28, 2012, headlines from MSN: "Chicago records 500th homicide of 2012." Chicago has very strict gun control. West Virginia had 80 murders in 2012. One out of every 20 persons in West Virginia can legally carry a concealed handgun. Enough said.
So someone thinks West Virginia is for sale claiming Patrick Morrisey used his wealth to win his election. Well, duh. Doesn't this person know Jay Rockefeller's money was used in every election Jay ever ran since setting foot in this state?

After issuing an executive order giving Congress and federal workers pay raises, Obama goes on NBC and says it's the GOP that's messing up the budget negotiations. The guy is unbelievable, and his supporters don't see a thing wrong with what he does or says.
A few years back, the big-money donors to WVU, upset with the hiring of Bill Stewart, threatened to cut donations if changes weren't made. Changes were made and now we're being embarrassed every week on national TV. Why aren't the big donors saying anything now?
Hypocrites. The same people who ignored freedom of speech and attacked Chick-fil-A for their anti-gay opinions are now saying we shouldn't attack Piers Morgan for his anti-gun comments.
They paid $20 million to escape the inferior Big East. Their record is 7-6 in the first year in the Big 12. They have to play their bowl game in a snowstorm and get blown out by a team from the Big East. Priceless.
It should be a felony to transfer a gun to a convicted felon or known violent offender. Make it a mandatory 10-year sentence.
I hope our new state Board of Education does something about the farce of students being "home-schooled" and not being able to pass any test given for competency. Our state doesn't need families that produce multiple ignorant children. I am appalled by this situation. I know it exists in Raleigh County.
Rerouting Jefferson Road across Davis Creek and out to the railroad crossing would create a single four-way intersection, eliminating the need for the second stoplight at foot of Tech Center hill. Fewer light changes would speed up traffic flow. How long will it take the state engineers to study this and figure it out?
When you saw images of the president and his family on a much-needed vacation, you only looked through bigoted eyes. He obviously did do enough work. He won, didn't he?
