For the person whose husband works at Alpha blaming the Obama administration for her husband's paycheck being less: Yes, the reduced amount deducted for Social Security (FICA) that has been in effect for a set period of time has expired. That was not included, never was, in the negotiations about federal withholding taxes. As for your husband's company increasing his health care out-of-pocket expenses, you might want to talk to the company about that.
In response to the person who discussed all the troubles going on in the world and a painting of Kate Middleton being foremost in the minds of millions of people, if it's not about her, it's about Lance Armstrong.
I see where the mayor of St. Albans has posted some objectives for the upcoming summer: More streetlights and sidewalks. Couldn't the city find a little money to put into the St. Albans boat dock? It wouldn't take a lot of money just to make it safe for our boaters.
To the reader who wondered about drunk drivers killing people, they have had a war on drunk driving for years and it seems to be helping, but the fanatics in the NRA will not try to help or admit that guns might be a problem.

To the senior citizen talking about his supplemental insurance going up since "Obamacare" has gone into effect: I don't know where some of you people come up with such nonsense. One minute you say it went up 2 1/2 percent and the next you say it doubled. You have been paying for all those uninsured people for years. "Obamacare," when fully implemented, will have all those folks in their own plan. Maybe you need to shop around a little.
I was under the impression that West Virginia Media was the statewide news channel. Why did they not cover the inauguration for the entire state?
It's a shame the National Rifle Association is so full of cowards that they need an assault rifle to protect themselves. That's ridiculous. And Manchin, where did his common sense go to? It's gone.
Why do you blame President Obama? He can't raise your health-care rates. The big insurance companies do that. Check your insurance company's profits. Check what they pay their top executives. The Affordable Care Act is just their excuse that causes big insurance company greed.
I used to enjoy radio talk show hosts. They would have the world news before it was printed or told on TV. Now it seems several talk show hosts have decided they need a stupid sidekick. In old days they were called jesters or fools. Now, Glenn Beck and Joe Pags' shows sound like gobbledygook. Yuck.
I'm calling about the lady called in Monday's paper about having to pay out-of-pocket insurance for Alpha. Tell her husband to join the UMWA and see what happens.
I agree with Sen. Chuck Schumer. As long as Walmart continues to sell automatic killing machines with 30-round clips, I will buy my groceries at Kroger. I support the right to bear arms but not killing machines with 30-round clips.

Sen. Manchin never met a camera or a news station he didn't like. He was all over everything here when he was governor and now it seems he's on every national news channel talking about whatever every time he has a chance to jump in front of the camera. Can we expect him to be the Democratic nominee in 2014? Let's hope not.
You know what else is disappointing? When you make a delivery to a doctor's office and they have notices all over saying how they're going to charge for this and charge for that.
