The real reason the Second Amendment was ratified, and why it says "state" instead of "country," was to preserve the slave patrol militias in the southern states, which was necessary to get Virginia's vote for ratification. Now you know.
To the two in Readers Voice that compared the use of knives to guns in the three stabbing incidents that were in the paper: Did the people doing the stabbing kill anywhere from 20 to 30 victims? I think not. How asinine to make that comparison.
You may choose not to have a self-protection firearm, but don't try to take mine away. Always remember this: When seconds count, the police are only minutes away.
Is the office of the West Virginia Attorney General where I should go to enlist in the war on trinkets?
Our public libraries are a link for the poor and downtrodden to help themselves, but our lackluster public officials are not speaking up to protect and fund these facilities.
I don't see why the NRA and the gun nuts are fighting background checks on roadside gun sales, because if you are a law-abiding citizen you would not care if they did a check on you.
People who say an "assault riffle" was used in the Newtown murders, do so out of ignorance, or to support the anti-gun agenda.
"A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the people's right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed." Seems pretty simple and straightforward, but conservatives don't understand the first half, and liberals don't understand the second half. Strange.
If death is not a metamorphosis into what we will be, or what we will be a part of, then what is the point of life at all?
For those of you either wanting, or worrying about, Congressional action concerning gun control, you have nothing to be concerned about. Congress will take no action, as their only concern is being re-elected, not what is good or bad for the American people. Don't tell me you are surprised.

It was a news flash to me that West Virginia is now a red state. Nothing could be further from the truth, and I'd like to know who this important person is who claims that we are now a red state.
Republicans can't win elections on their policies so they're gerrymandering districts and trying to change how the Electoral College works. Their new motto is 'if you can't beat them, cheat them.'
I can only think of one fellow that would have made a worse president than Barack Obama, and that would be Al Gore.
When President Obama gives the Latinos and every other illegal immigrant citizenship, I wonder if he'll give the convicted felons the ability to own a weapon again.
What is going on with the government? They hassle long-time renowned citizens about renewing their driver's license, yet the federal government turns right around and allows illegal aliens to acquire a driver's license. That doesn't make sense.
I was sorry to see that they will have more graffiti in our town when the poles under the interstate are painted. It's too bad with the natural beauty in Charleston with the rivers and mountains that we have to have graffiti around.
I agree. The school should be called Edgewood School. Let's don't get in any more fights over names. It's in Edgewood; let's call it Edgewood.
This is to the educated individual in Vent Line calling people Daniel Boones. It's apparent that you don't know what a machine gun or an attack rifle is, LOL. Two handguns were used at Sandy Hook.
Joe Manchin has had his face in the paper more in the last couple months than his whole time in Washington. He must be going to run for president soon, then Earl Ray can move into his spot.
Misrepresentation of facts showing up in the paper are from GOP ranks and fooled Fox listeners hearing deceiving propaganda.
