Would Second Amendment advocates support a law similar to DUI laws over public possession of a firearm while intoxicated? Seems like when a normally responsible gun owner uses a gun in an act of anger or domestic violence, alcohol is very often involved.
I am appalled at Jorea Marple's state pension amount. The private sector pension programs do not approach even half that amount. Why would she want her job back when she can make six figures for doing nothing? Remind me to vote against anyone or any levy supporting teacher pay or benefit increases.
I have come to believe that our new attorney general Patrick Morrisey is a Trojan horse. He was placed on the edge of our beloved state by big money out-of-state donors and special interest groups to see if we as West Virginians would open our gates and pull him in. We did pull him into our state but if I remember my history the citizens of Troy come to regret that deception and paid a terrible price.
Little Billy in McDowell County does not deserve a good education because McDowell County does not pay as much taxes and is not as populous as Kanawha County. After all, Kanawha County is more populous and pays more taxes and, therefore, little Billy from Kanawha County deserves a better education. Please, take the state government out of Charleston and what would you have; 90 percent of the people moving elsewhere.
I stopped my NRA membership, receiving hats and stickers after they rose up against Ted Kennedy's health-care agenda. Using guns to put down health care needed by our country in favor of assault weapons was and easy decision. Republicans control the NRA and joining it helps Republicans defeat Democrats.
Concerning the [reader's] fantasy of only having an assault rifle with 10-round clip when a burglar breaks into his house and has an assault rifle with 30-round clip, it wouldn't be advisable to grab an assault rifle for a house invasion, too bulky, that is a job for a pistol; I seriously doubt a burglar would carry around an assault rifle with a 30-round clip when a pistol would be easier to conceal, and lastly if you couldn't hit him with 10 rounds, I seriously doubt you could hit him with 30.
Law enforcement decides all the time which laws they will and will not enforce. Tobacco and alcohol kill far more people than so called assault weapons and yet the underage drinking and smoking laws are seldom enforced. Public coffers would overflow if the law was enforced and people fined for tossing their cigarette butts onto our public places.
Let's see how resolute those anti-constitutional sheriffs are the first time they face-off with a maniac in body armor and an assault rifle loaded with armor piercing bullets.
While I know things are tough all over, I wondered why the states' colleges and universities couldn't be spared from the 7.5 percent budget cut imposed on all state agencies. I mean, we always hear about how important college-educated people are to the state's economy. Then I saw the WVU football coaches' salaries. Wow. Hope WVU can still afford to pay them once they trim their budget.
I think it is far past time that the women who attend award shows and other public functions ask their designers to include a little more fabric for their clothes. Their shameless exhibitionism and endless wardrobe malfunctions has grown tiresome. A little modesty would go a long way. It would certainly make them stand out.

I am coming 80, and have never in my lifetime seen this country as divided as it now is. White and black, rich and poor, Democrats and Republicans. There has always been some division, but this president and Congress have been responsible for magnifying the differences in these areas. Our only salvation is that the next election will rid us of more of these greedy career losers, and if we can hang in there long enough, perhaps turn this ship around.
If any NASCAR fan out there has any pull with the system, have them get the Gaither Vocal Band to appear at one of the major races and sing "Let Freedom Ring". There will not be a dry eye at the track, and this will bring the best entertainment for all to see and hear.
The great sport of football takes a nosedive when the cameras pick up the coaches and players and their plainly evident profanity and antics on the sidelines. This is the message being given to our young people. I hope the Ravens coach sees the films of the game and realizes what a spectacle he made when the lights went out. No class.
I'm sorry but Beyoncé and her music do nothing for me.
Perhaps we should fund armed guards for our schools with a special fee on gun and ammunition sales equal to what that would cost. Then it would not contribute to the deficit. Since that is the only solution the NRA would support, they could show us just how sincere they are about it. Oh yes, and better put the guards on school buses as well.
I have a solution to the growing opioid addiction problem in the state. Why don't we make it illegal to prescribe these dangerous drugs? They should only be available within a clinical setting. I am aware that the hold the Big Pharma lobby has on legislators will prevent this from happening. Meanwhile the costs to society will only increase as the drug companies count their profits.
I have followed WVU basketball for over 50 years. Bob Huggins is a coach I would not allow my son to play for. I would discourage any athlete from signing up to play for him.
For about 1970 years, almost all businesses closed Sundays and few Christians voluntarily worked Sunday. Then Republican Christians got liberal with their supposed faith because it was more important to them to make money and do chores on Sunday than to rest like God commanded.
