To the person complaining about coaches wearing suits: It is a matter of class, dignity and self-respect, people. Just look at all the greats -- Pat Riley, Joe Paterno, Bear Bryant, Mike Krzyzewski and so many more. And then look at Coach Huggins. What a disgrace.
Why are gun owners being condemned while the doctors, lawyers and judges who were responsible for letting people with histories of violent acts out on the street to kill are allowed to continue letting more out? They get off with an "Oops, we were wrong."
It's interesting that most of the states with the lowest divorce rates in the U.S. are Democratic states and most of the states with the highest divorce rates are Republican states. More evidence that Republican claims that they are more conservative, moral and Christian are false.
Would Kanawha County please loan their service personnel to Putnam County? Kanawha County Schools really got the sewer pipe issue straightened out at Midland Trail in a hurry, and at Scott Teays in Putnam County, we've been dealing with sewer gas for months and no one has fixed it yet. Students and teachers walk through a cloud of it on a daily basis.
I for one am happy that Saturday mail service will finally end. I see no reason to continue it .... It is silly to complain about something that we only need because we are used to having it. Stopping Saturday mail delivery is smart business and makes good sense.
If background checks are required for private sales, then the government will be able to track every firearm from the time it is manufactured, and confiscate them at will.
Let's create another award. On a wooden platform, place a tin column and, at the top of the column, place a sheet of sandpaper. We'll call it the Gritty. We will award the Gritty to the most irritating commercial of the year.
Hunting, sport, and self-defense are good reasons to own a gun. However, just because someone is a law-abiding gun owner doesn't mean that at some future point, that same person can't suffer depression, dementia, deep outrage, or be careless about locking up their weapons. The mathematical odds of ... [violence] greatly increase when guns are readily available in the home.
It is not up to a sheriff, or any other law enforcement officer ... to interpret our Constitution. Nor is it within the purview of any citizen or official, elected or appointed, to determine which laws are to be enforced and which are not. The interpretation of the laws is left to the judicial branch of local, state, and national government.
To put a quote from your fawning Feb. 5 editorial on Hillary Clinton in context, "As secretary of state, she helped eliminate Libyan dictator Gaddhafi." Thereby, [she helped] spread weapons and create instability across ... Africa. Since when is the Gazette a fan of needless war? Oh, right, when it's done by a Democrat.

It's obvious the people still claiming the GOP is out to end Social Security and other programs have their heads buried in Democrat quicksand and aren't paying attention to the news. Their beloved Democrat leaders are the ones threatening programs using them as leverage to get the GOP to vote for socialism.
To the reader who attempted to quote Joe Biden about banning certain guns: typical Fox News fashion. You only quoted half of the sentence. You need to go back and read it again and quote the entire sentence.
Republican Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky is rapidly climbing the "hopefully too stupid to reproduce" list. He is an absolute fruitcake.
Remember when you're quoting the Bible that you're quoting from the edited version and not the full book.
Concerning Randy Moss: Quit worrying about athletes' personalities and concern yourself with what they accomplish on the field. That's what they are paid for. Statistics say that Moss is among the top five receivers who have ever played in the NFL, and he will be in the NFL Hall of Fame some day.
Just go into any school and you cannot tell the teachers from the students. It should be mandatory that teachers have a dress code and are required to follow it. But there again it's all about class, dignity and no respect.
