Let's see. George Bush pushed the Patriot Act through right after 9/11 and got it passed, which basically takes away our Fourth Amendment rights to privacy. Then somebody hacks into their computers and publishes a bunch of their private emails and crap online and he gets mad and angry.
The problem with this country is that we started shipping jobs overseas in the '50s and it's been going on for 50 years. Now the working few have to support the other half because they can't find a job. They're overseas. Wake up, America.
The Gazette should place reports of the killing spree by ex-cop Christopher Dorner beside nutty-professor editorials saying police can handle guns but teachers can't.
A good example of why West Virginia's not moving ahead is what Mr. Eyre found out about how the state government works and the waste lost for our kids. The fact higher-ups have not been fired means more is to come without consequences. The plot thickens as people who disagree with this management are fired.
Why do the school buses at Logan block the road to the grade school? All of the buses except two line in a single file and keep the road open. Someday an emergency vehicle may have to go to the school and it won't be able to get there. The school system had better hope it's not my child.
To all you folks who during our recent storms were hot to trot over putting all the electrical and telephone lines underground, please tell me how you would get to them to do repairs with 3 to 4 feet of snow and ice on the ground as is in the New England area.
All gun owners I know would give up their guns if it would save children. But arguments for banning guns seem foolish, naive and/or dishonest!
Property taxes will be rising in Kanawha and possibly other counties. If the state would charge the out-of-state corporations (who own most of our land anyway) their fair share of property taxes, then they would not have to raise the property taxes of the people who live here.
While I certainly agree that football is not as important as academics, until the day a chemistry professor can fill a stadium with 60,000 fans who are eating at restaurants, staying at hotels, buying gasoline and otherwise pouring money into the local economy, the coach's salary will be the greater of the two.
With all that's going on in the world that we need to know about, we get a biography of E.J. Dionne's mother. I lack the words to express how little I care.
The United States used to be the land of the free and the home of the brave. You voted for a change, and now it's the land of the police state and the home of the weak.
Social Security and Medicare are entitlements. You paid into them. You're entitled to get them back. It's simple. Welfare is not an entitlement.

How does anything the Obama administration is bragging about help me pay the high prices of food, gas, medicine and utilities? Answer that, Obamacrats.
If the Board of Education would get rid of the dead weight, they wouldn't need all those bonds and keep raising our property taxes.
To those who are concerned about homosexuals joining the Boy Scouts, you don't have to worry about the safety of a homosexual in the Boy Scouts. You have to worry about heterosexual adults who are pedophiles.
For those who think the Bible is a myth, how would you explain the Bible stating that as time goes on people will get more evil? Aren't people more wicked today than they were just 10 years ago? Please explain that.
Why doesn't the county commission do something about the junkyard in the woods on West Washington Street in the Cross Lanes area?
Rhonda Stewart makes the news and paper again. You kill a dog, you get more time than what she's gotten for killing her husband.
The paper stated that the Kanawha schools approved a half-million dollars for roof repair work. A few days ago our government approved a loan to Syria for $155 million. If my math is right, we could have done 148 roof jobs for our schools. I wonder if our government has considered giving the United States some aid money. We sure need it.
Does anyone know who gave the Putnam County Fire Board authority to increase the fee from $25 to $37.50? The numerous amount of homes being built in the county, one would think the fee would be less.
I sure wish we could get Dr. Mickey Blackwell to come back to Kanawha County. Horace Mann really needs him. We should never have let Dr. Blackwell go to Roane County.
How does Sen. Kirkendoll manage to receive his senator's salary, a PEIA pension and contract wages from the county? Isn't this triple dipping?
The U.S. Postal Service is outrageously costly and wasteful. It's time the service be cut back. It could be easily cut back by one day and other management measures can be taken.
