CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The top front page of the Gazette on Wednesday had a Huggins photo with phrase Any Hope Left? across the top. Next to it was the phrase Course Work. No matter what I did, my mind read it as Any Hope Left? Course Not.

Hey, thanks to the person who called again to "remind everybody ... that this President ... is the worst thing that ever happened" to the country and that we'll "soon find that out." Clearly the majority of voters disagreed after four years, but don't let that intrude on your personal reality, Sunshine. You hang right in there.

Now it's out that married Republican senator Pete Domenici fathered a child with the Republican daughter of another Republican senator. If Republicans are so conservative, Christian and family-values oriented, why is it I can name 10 times more Republicans who have cheated on their spouses than Democrats? What phonies.

Blaming the stimulus program for Routergate is like blaming the money for a bank robbery.

I have a silly question. Why hasn't the city taken the profits from all those millions of tourist dollars spent at the Civic Center and deposited a portion, say 10 to 15 percent, into an escrow account for maintenance expenses and upgrades as needed? Seems all the politicos want to do is take the profit and spend it and when new revenues are needed do what politicians love to do -- raise taxes.

Four West Virginia coal miners died in the last two weeks. It appears that Earl Ray Tomblin is trying to catch up with Joe Manchin, whose record on mine safety was the worst in the last 50 years. The only protector the miners ever had was the UMWA. Since Trumka and Roberts destroyed the union, miners are on their own.

Politicians seem to always find money to persecute and take away rights of those without the ability to fight back. Drug testing for drivers licenses and welfare. Someone in power must own drug-testing facilities.

No waiting and easy access to all manner of guns for the law-abiding person also means easy access for the felon, the crazy person with a grudge, the depressed, the child or teen who gets a hold of their parents' gun. The more guns, the greater the odds of them being used for the wrong purpose.

There needs to be a congressional investigation as to why oil futures are dropping like rocks, while the price of gas at the pump is skyrocketing.

It is time for the DNR to recommend to the Legislature a bill to make crossbows legal for archery hunting in West Virginia. Many of the surrounding states have crossbow hunting and would come to West Virginia, spend money, and hunt here.

You social liberals are the most hypocritical judgmental people of all. I will bet anything that so many of you are guilty of the things you like to accuse evangelical fundamentalist Christians of. Cheating on your wives, abandoning helpless animals, and so on.

So now we know why the state Legislature wants to raise the gas prices for everybody in West Virginia. It's to pay for the pay raises. Are they crazy doing this right now? Please, we should vote every one of them out of office except the ones who votes against this pay raise.

The case of the man who tortured 29 dogs to their deaths makes the case for dispensing a criminal's punishment identical to his or her crime.

Gasoline prices have gone up 50 cents in a week and we're now at $3.89 a gallon and not one person has said anything about it. What a shame.
