Readers' Voice: Feb. 23, 2013
Does John McCain think he's the only person in Washington qualified for everything? If so, why has he been defeated and let down on everything he's tried to do? He's living on his reputation as a prisoner of war. Let's stop it now. Don't listen to him.
Whenever I see a Friends of Coal sticker, I think of 29 men who should not have died and of retirees on oxygen who no longer have a pension.
Do we really want to arm our teachers who will not take a drug test?
Remind the caller in Readers' Voice in Thursday's newspaper that Obama lost West Virginia, so don't blame him.
Mayor Jones, I need a new roof on my house and a new driveway. How about I stick my hand in your paycheck and get it paid for. It's only a small percentage, you know.
Thank you, thank you, thank you, WCHS, for bringing back Miss Andrews for the noon show. We will now be watching that station again at noon. We would also like to see her bring back her talk to the vet and animal adoption. That would be great.
Let me see if I can understand this: Danny Jones wants to tax the low- and middle-income wage earners to pay millions of dollars for renovations to the Civic Center in a city that never has and never will have any panache. Get real, Jones.
Are we now a society that wants to judge everything based on a sound bite and not try to understand why bad things happen to good people? I pray the judge and prosecutor have full understanding and know how to administer compassionate justice to a real victim.
What I read in the Gazette's editorial yesterday, the list of things that will occur if the automatic budget cuts kick in, it looked to me like many of these things are things that ought to be done anyway. Let's cut out a lot of this wasted welfare money. Let's quit supporting all the freeloaders.
Thank you, reader, for finding out where Deborah Linz was. I really don't care. I just hope she stays there and doesn't come here and try to run the television station again like she did before.
Watch and see when Jesse Jackson Jr. is sentenced in June. Watch and see if he doesn't get the minimum sentence instead of the maximum like a normal person would. Anyone else would have been crucified.
If the new attorney general needs more money, why doesn't he go to his corporate sponsors to ask for it? After all, that's who he works for.
President Obama is taking his message to the people and the Republicans can't stand it.
I see where the entire state of West Virginia has over a million in reserve. Does that mean a raise in our taxes and hiring of more family members? I wonder.

To the reader who criticized the gun-toters, why do you blame everyone who has a gun for what criminals do? Thinking like that shows you don't know what you're talking about.
The only way to stop texting while driving is for insurance companies to check drivers involved in all accidents.
Again this year, somebody's trying to raise the seatbelt law to primary. Tell your senators you do not want this to happen.
To the person that said all the president does is lie, you can tell by your rant that you are not smart enough to find the truth on your own and you are so full of hate and racism you wouldn't believe it anyway. You are just one of the idiots that repeats the Fox News garbage.
Recently a caller stated that Kanawha County would like to have Mickey Blackwell, superintendent of schools in Roane County, back in Kanawha County schools, and we in Roane County would like to comply, with bells and whistles.
Most places you work you are required to take a drug test for the purpose of safety. Do they require you to take a drug test and continue to take one to have a concealed weapons permit?
On Judgment Day, the U.S. Supreme Court justices, mainly Justice Alito, will have to deal with the fact that they believe that corporations are people. Corporations are not human beings.
Just what does a car salesman look like? I sell cars and make well over $100,000 annually. I dress in the finest and also have a degree. I tithe my church, as all Christians should. So where do you shop for your automobiles? If you are so dissatisfied with their appearance, maybe you need to shop for your cars at a different dealership.
Mr. Kessler, don't raise our taxes. Just cut the wasteful means of the state road workers and you will save money. How often do you see a state road truck running in the parking lot of a Walmart or Go-Mart while the worker shops for themselves?
Let me see, how much do you think a working person would have to earn to maintain the lifestyle of the "takers"? Include Medicaid, cash welfare benefits, food stamps, SSI (where unwarranted), free school lunches, free tutoring, child care, Section 8 housing, etc. Think these takers are a major part of the 47 percent that won the last election?
Can the citizens of West Virginia join the lawsuit filed by Jorea Marple? The citizens of this state were harmed by her thoughtless and reckless firing, and I think the interested parties should sign on to that suit.
Patrick Morrisey just does whatever he wants to do. They're trying to tell me they could not find one person in West Virginia that could have been his protégé? But, no, he goes out of state to get someone.
