The failure of our federal government to make any serious effort to control spending is a sure sign the collapse of our economy isn't far off. We had better be getting ready for it.

On Feb. 16 there was a large group from a middle school at the Olive Garden on Corridor G. I watched as the students took all available benches while elderly people stood waiting for a table for a long time. Not one student moved or offered their seats, and none of the adults said a word. What an awful image. This would have been a good learning opportunity to teach consideration for others.

Folks should be ashamed of making ugly remarks about the lady who had surgery. Fingernails look like that with no polish. Thank God she is alive. Look at your own hands. Thank you.

Obama blames Congress for sequester cuts, but playbacks make it obvious that it was started by the White House. He lies day after day and has no shame in the world.

Since the sequester is going to really harm our military, I think the Obamas should be banned from taking any more vacations for the rest of his term. No more golf, no more Hawaii and everything else in between. If Americans can't take vacations like they want to, the Obama family shouldn't either.

To the dummy who called the valentine lingerie pictures in the paper "nudity," keep your narrow mind to yourself. There was nothing wrong with those pictures, and most children don't read the newspaper.

If Councilman Robert Sheets is a typical Democrat, then I'm awfully glad I'm a Republican.

It is a shame that people are too lazy to return grocery carts back where they belong instead of leaving them out to damage someone's car. That could be you.

In heaven there will be no Democrats or Republicans, only Christians. So people had better learn to get along here before they get there if they ever want to. Get your act together and start working together.

I notice they have Herman Cain on Fox News as a contributor. That is fine. Now get rid of Juan Williams and Bob Beckel because they are rude and hateful and the most opinionated people on the planet. In order to make their opinions known, they talk over people.

Cut the welfare rolls. Stop cellphones for welfare. Look into the fraud and sell unused real estate. Stop conference trips. I've got so many ideas of how to cut the waste in Washington I could write a book.

Sen. Manchin's best idea was to stop giving foreign aid. We need the money for us -- especially no money for countries that hate us.

Can we pay for all the expensive health care? That is not the question. The question is: Why it is so expensive? Doctors and nurses aren't getting rich from working in health care. CEOs of hospitals, medical equipment manufacturers, drug company representatives and insurance CEOs are getting the money. Those are the things that need to be looked into.

I love the American people; they built America. But bringing all of these other people in and taking away our jobs is wrong.

I agree with Rush Limbaugh on sequester cuts -- Obama and Congress did this together to get the American people to panic. That insults us. We are smarter than the government. We need to rise up and show it. The government has no sense.
