To the 23 miners who lost their jobs over drug testing, don't worry about it, friend. Get a job as a teacher. They don't drug test. Better yet, get on welfare. Get HUD. Get food stamps. Get a medical card. They don't drug test them either.
What this country needs is to remove all of the men, start at the top and go to the lowly door opener, remove all the men from offices and put women in there and we will have the country back on track within a month. We'll have the spending cuts, balanced budget; the whole nine yards.
Yes, I have called in several times concerning BrickStreet and their sky-high premiums and contributions, but they are never published, but yet you can continuously publish call-ins on Obama and gun control over and over or other stupid things.
We had a South Charleston High School graduate that made second-team all conference from West Virginia Tech this year and there wasn't a mention of it in the Daily Mail or the Gazette. Coverage for Tech here is pitiful.
I'd like to know why a rich Democrat is compared with an angel to God, but a rich Republican is the incarnate of Satan. Somebody explain the difference to me.
There is an article in the Gazette that talks about West Virginia's basketball team having trouble with their scheduling and travel. Those are certainly factors. But the real reason WVU struggled this year is that Coach Huggins has not recruited as aggressively as the other coaches in the conference.
Any person who stands and watches a person get beaten should themselves be charged as an accessory to the crime. Or even worse, [a witness] asking for money in return for identifying the criminals? ... I don't see how people live with themselves.
Yesterday's paper quoting the Charleston Health Department: "People in southern states are twice as likely to get shot at work when compared to people in the rest of the country." Could this be because gun ownership is also higher in the South?
My right to life, liberty and property far outweighs your right to buy a cheap shotgun or make a down payment on an AR-15 to kill me.

As coaches and enthusiasts always boast, "athletics builds character," and that character met the Embassy Suites security and Charleston Police as represented by the West Liberty athletic director, his son, and athletes.
I voted for Obama twice and I am not sorry. I would vote for him again if we could. He is cleaning up the mess that Bush and Cheney left us, in spite of McConnell, Boehner, and the so-called tea party.
To the reader who commented on his travel between Chelyan and Boomer on U.S. 60, unfortunately that is true of Interstate 64, I-77, I-79 and U.S. 60 through much of the Kanawha Valley. Thank goodness for the state Capitol and the natural scenery on the "outside" of the Kanawha Valley.
Historic day! The Dow hit an all-time high! The retail index is hitting all-time highs, and the auto industry, banking and construction are booming. A big thank you to President Obama for saving our country from the destroyers of capital!
All right, Wheeling Jesuit! Way to keep it classy.
Heard John Ellis Bush (Jeb) on Hannity last night. Makes a lot of sense. Wish he would consider running for the White House. He cut expenses without raising taxes for eight years as governor in Florida. Go Jeb.
Yay Putnam County! They are not going to do all-year school. If Kanawha County does all-year school, I will be moving my family to Putnam County. Hallelujah!
How many of these college kids were underage, drinking at the Embassy Suites with the coach? This shows what our colleges are for. Underage kids out drinking and the school takes up for it. They should have all been arrested.
I just wanted to thank Dr. Paul Clancy for his wonderful article on legalizing medical marijuana. It is so needed in this state.
Sen. Mitch Carmichael should just go ahead and put on a big frizzy yellow wig, a bright red nose and some big floppy shoes. That way he'll more correctly resemble the role he plays during his time in Charleston in the Legislature.
I hope all those politicians, Republicans and Democrats in Washington, are all ready to retire ... not simply because of what they're doing but because of the fact they will not try to work together. What a shame for our country.
