The more guns there are out there, the easier it is for criminals to get them. The more lethal they are, the more law officers, family members and innocent bystanders will be killed. It is a matter of probability.

As a real Democrat, I hate to say this. But I fear we are going to lose a lot of good people in the next elections due to a pro-gun backlash.

By only giving voice to the anti-gun radicals predicting stronger gun restrictions, the Gazette unwittingly played into the hands of the NRA radicals. The pro-gun backlash was expected.

Obama hates anything that has to do with fossil fuels. Our Democratic representatives in D.C. agree with anything Obama says. How can a person call in every week and praise those same representatives for supporting the West Virginia worker?

I read in today's Gazette that Danny Wells is for adding a $1 tax per pack of cigarettes. More families have been destroyed by drinking than cigarette smoking. The Legislature would not want to add taxes to alcohol because it would affect most of them.

I'd like to comment on the article on scouting and the cancellation on some of the singers. Part of the Scout oath says, "I will do my best to do my duty to God and my country, keep myself physically strong, mentally awake and morally straight." Legislators pushing reform think students are best served having alternate certifications and nonteaching shortcuts to fill classroom shortages. Ask any parent if they want nonteachers attempting to teach their child. Parents ask the same legislators to do their jobs and attract only the best real teachers to replenish the now-empty talent pool.

Why do companies, etc., call homes on numbers that cannot be called back? I see numbers on my caller ID and attempt to return the calls only to be told the number cannot be called. What do they have to hide?

There is a lot of fear-mongering going on about the sequestration, but that's for political reasons, not for financial reasons. This sequestration is not the end of the world, as you have already noticed, especially in the stock market.
