Is literature and culture dead in West Virginia with the cancellation of the book festival? Not to worry. The enlightened cast of "Buckwild" will be signing autographs and handing out comic books at Ripley this coming weekend.
Ollie, how's dat Big 12 workin' out for ya?
The most rude and inconsiderate drivers in the area are in Teays Valley. Driving down Teays Valley Road between Scott Depot and Hurricane is like pushing a buggy through Walmart on the first of the month.
If you think gun control is the way to go for safer communities, why don't you move to an area that already has it? Chicago, or D.C. Then you could see firsthand how well it works, or maybe we should say doesn't work.
The person who said that George W. Bush "was on our side" is absolutely wrong. Bush missed his chance to be on our side in 1972, when he cowardly deserted his unit to keep from being deployed to Vietnam. This Vietnam veteran will never forget or forgive that fact.
Dave Hickman's line in the paper was, "it's a team that shows flashes of potential and on occasion even brilliance." Dave, what team have you been watching all season? Obviously it wasn't the Mountaineers. They've been terrible.
Do you notice how when these godless liberals phone in to Readers' Voice to discuss current events or even controversial topics, they can't do it without taking God's name in vain while they're at it?
Is the new interstate speed limit 85 mph? That's what everybody seems to be driving these days.
Danny Jones should look in the mirror. Talk about an idiot. Danny Jones is the idiot and he's grandstanding.
When street thugs and drug dealers get shot and end up in the hospital, do the taxpayers pay the bill or does Obamacare pick up the tab?
When idiots in Washington are free to squander tax money, what do you get? Robotic squirrels, study of obesity in lesbians? Who knows how many harebrained schemes waste our tax money?

Thank you, Gazette, for printing in the March 13 opinion page the album of moron row. I don't know what these guys are thinking about. They're obviously in the hip pocket of the NRA.
Have you driven on Bigley Avenue lately? Boy, what a nice, smooth ride. Thanks again, Danny Jones. Great roads.
Seems to me that the NRA ought to reach out to gang members and thugs and offer them precision target practice. Seems that they've been grazing their intended victims, hitting them in the legs and buttocks, but they're shooting way too many innocent bystanders.
Please put the bridge back in the newspaper. I'm not sure why you took it out but it was a grave mistake. You're going to lose a lot of customers, especially the elderly customers who are a lot more involved in bridge and who are more likely not to be involved in technology like younger viewers might be.
Where did the West Liberty students, all underage, get the alcohol they were [drinking]? Somebody's in violation of the law by providing them with alcoholic drinks.
Delegate Mark Hunt said lawmakers from around the state were irritated with Danny Jones for calling them idiots. Well, if the shoe fits, and if it looks like a duck and walks like a duck....
Tell Gov. Tomblin to keep fighting for the children of this state. We are 100 percent behind him. We are the parents of these children and we know what has been lousy, what the unions can do, so we are behind you. ... Keep on fighting until you win.
Someone will have to explain to me how a 16-year-old girl ends up weighing 220 pounds. That is just inconceivable unless she ate at McDonald's every day of her life.
Channel 13 needs to put Jessie Shaffer back on the weekend news. ... If you want to keep your ratings up, use people like Jessie Shaffer more often.
I would like to know when somebody is going to do something about the high price of homeowners' insurance. I am not going to pay $200 a month for homeowners' insurance. It's about time somebody did something about this.
I agree with the reader's post in the Tuesday, March 12 Readers' Voice. It was from the cyclist that has some excellent suggestions about how to use the money instead of the proposed Kanawha Boulevard bike route.
Yes, I'd like to know why the Kanawha County Board of Education does not use the extra money that they saved from not helping the library out to pay for the new [construction] they want for Andrews Heights.
