I see that our lawmakers here mirror those in Washington. They cave in to the opposition at a whim. They let the teachers bully them out of changes that need to be made. WV will never improve their educational rating until they quit letting the teachers have their way.
When I read the ramblings in the Voice it's apparent why our state is near the bottom of every economic and social indicator in our country. ... We have much work to do and blaming others for our failures as a people won't solve any of our current problems.
Ten years after starting the war in Iraq we know that war should be entered into only as a last resort, and only with a total commitment. That's not just the message of Iraq. It's the message of American wars for the past 50 years.
Hundreds of Republican politicians have come out in favor of gay marriage now that they see it hurts them politically to be against it? What a bunch of phonies. They'll soon do the same thing on their phony 40-year opposition to abortion.
The state Department of Education can reduce bureaucracy, and save funds, by eliminating contracts given to WVDE retirees. [Some] retirees are given contracts immediately upon their retirement to either continue a portion of their position or advise/support the person hired to fill the retirees' position.
I saw Sarah Palin at CPAC this weekend on TV, and CPAC should stand for crazy people acting crazy.
Now our "leaders" in Congress have decreed that there is no need to limit the proliferation of assault weapons to the general public. So much for any hope for something good to come out of the hideous murders of those tiny little children.
I think it's wrong, very wrong, that the players on "Jeopardy" that take second and third place do not get to keep the money that they won. I think that's just about as wrong as it can be. Some other company needs to step up and help out with that.
I want to comment on the coyotes. Why don't they add $2 to each hunting and fishing license and the license you buy on your car, add $2 on that, and open up a coyote fund so somebody can make a little profit on killing them and that might take care of the problem.
Women who can't take care of their own mothers should not have the capability of having babies. If taking care of their own mothers is any reflection of how they'll take care of their own kid, they don't deserve one.
I would like to know where were the parents of these children at Steubenville High School and in West Virginia that their children were out all night. What are these parents doing?
Too bad that the governor caved in to the teachers' unions concerning his education overhaul, but what else would we expect, because this is West Virginia and unions get their say regardless of the effects on the population.
