I am single and own my own place. Can some tax guru tell me the reasoning behind why I am not the head of household?
Currently the Social Security payroll tax only applies to income up to $113,700. Any income above that amount is exempt from the tax. All we have to do to make Social Security secure for decades is raise this amount to $250,000, but it is never proposed. Why? Oh, that's right, we can't have the rich pay a fair share, they're "job creators." Yeah, right.
If Dr. Dan Foster would have settled in Milton when he came to West Virginia, he would have had a very different experience. He would have discovered quickly how unaccepting West Virginians are of newcomers. Outsiders are always outsiders in Milton, even if they've lived here for 50 years.
To all you Bush apologists, there are reasons we blame Bush for the shape the country is in. It's facts. I've noticed you don't deny his stupidity, just cry about him being blamed.
Before you blame President Bush for all of our problems, think about this. In 2006 the Democrats took control of Congress. At that time, our economy was growing and for the most part strong. By 2008, after just 2 years of the Democrats being in charge of the entire Congress, the economy had tanked and we were heading for a recession.
There is not one word in the first amendment that forbids prayer in public schools. That is a complete misnomer. What we call the separation of church and state is a modern concept that has totally twisted what the founding fathers wanted. They simply wanted the government not to force people to have to worship a certain way.
This is to the person who always uses the phrase "Kool-Aid drinkers." I drank lots and lots of Kool-Aid in my two tours in Vietnam in the late sixties. It was nasty tasting and served up by our government to the troops. I also voted for President Obama, twice. So maybe you should go to your third grade teacher and get another definition for a loyal patriotic Democrat.
I simply cannot find the words to sufficiently express how utterly contemptible was Patrick Lane's reprehensible manipulation of support for the home rule bill to nullify gun ordinances in four cities. Clearly, having a law degree is in no way proof of intelligence, as only a cretin would mistake pigheaded, uncompromising, obdurate, extremist ideology for sensible public policy. The fact that he doesn't live in any of the affected cities serves only to compound his loathsome behavior.
In her op-ed in the Sunday Gazette-Mail concerning the natural gas industry and fracking, Charlotte Pritt asks, "Why aren't state elected officials protecting West Virginia?" They haven't protected us from the coal industry the past 100 years, so why would anyone be surprised that they won't protect us from the natural gas industry?
Sen. Joe has been desperately searching for some issue to get himself in front of the camera and pretend to be the power player he will never become. He can only survive if the camera is pointed at him and someone thinks he has something important to say. It's not like he's involved in a major breakthrough or is doing something that takes political courage. Same ole camera-shy Joe.
It's been quite amusing to watch the feminists' reaction to Gabrielle Reece. They refuse to accept that a professional woman found happiness being submissive in the home. Some of the lemmings refuse to get in line.
