The cartoon in the paper hit the nail on the head: If a background check bill would have no effect on guns then how come the NRA is fighting it? This country had gun control for 150 years. Nobody mentioned the Second Amendment until the NRA turned radical.
Patrick Morrisey is an outsider who should have been left outside. He clearly does not understand what his job is, nor does he seem interested in learning it. His election was a huge mistake, the consequences of which will be felt by our citizens for years to come.
I bet the reader is right. Obama would not get on Air Force One and fly to Nebraska. The reason is he would already be on it, going to play golf on the taxpayers' dime we can't afford. At least we knew George W. Bush was on our side and our allies' side.
Mr. Rabel's recent comments about "bubblehead reporting" were never more apparent than in some of the news coverage of the Boston tragedy. Sensationalism at its finest with a few reporters deserving of Hollywood accolades.
Some reader said the Democrats caused the economy to fail after the Democrats took control in 2006. Fox and the Republicans may try, but they can't change history. Clinton left a budget surplus and the GOP wasted that on tax cuts, unfunded wars and more.
To the people cheering on the Texas knife attacks, you're ridiculous! It has nothing to do with the weapon used. It's about the mentally ill that do this stuff. Nothing will ever stop evil from hurting or killing innocent, unarmed people.
To the reader about the personal firearm sales "loophole": Are you implying that if face-to-face sales were made illegal without a background check, criminals ... will suddenly start following the law?
Liberal media outlets have no problem saying it wouldn't hurt to give a little on our Second Amendment rights. We should be happy to give up some of our rights. I can't help and wonder how they would feel if it was the First Amendment being rewritten.
Boston Marathon: Three killed, almost 200 injured. Bomb was in a pressure cooker. I guess we will now have to go through an extensive background check when we go to the hardware store to buy a pressure cooker. Thanks Joe and Rocky!
Nice call, Principal Aulenbacher. Just because GW is 95 percent white doesn't mean it's 95 percent Tea Party. Got figure there is at least a few progressives still there somewhere.
Does the free lunch legislation include all students in the public schools? Does it include private school students if they walk over from their school for lunch? Does it include staff members such as cafeteria staff and custodial staff who work the lunch periods?Just 7 percent of Americans trust the government to do what is right. More than half -- 56 percent -- say the nation is headed in the wrong direction. Democrats may find comfort that Republican lawmakers are even less popular than Democrats. ... God help us.
