The State Police seem to be very proud that they eradicated $8 million of marijuana plants in McDowell County. I recently drove through McDowell County, and based on what I saw, any community down there would benefit from an $8 million injection into its economy. This state needs to legalize, regulate and tax marijuana.
Most people who claim to be Christians today have turned the radical Jesus of the Bible into the comfortable Jesus of 21st-century American culture. Remember that the road to hell is wide and popular, and the road to heaven is narrow, hard and unpopular -- even among those claiming Christianity.
I just received a letter from Rails to Trails suggesting that I am a person who hates to see something useful go to waste, and they are right. I strongly condemn abandoning any railroad track until the needs of the gas and its related industries are known. Its not Rails to Trails, but "Rails to Jobs" -- and votes to leaders that can create them, regardless of their political party.
I never thought I would see the day when Russia took a moral stand that made America look sick and weak. Their stand against considering gay behavior as normal or acceptable is to be applauded.
The mind boggles at the stupidity of the person who wondered what the Gazette editorial board would do if President Obama voided the Constitution and declared the United States a Muslim country. The fact that anyone could ask such an idiotic question reflects on the average IQ of radical conservatives.
For General Pipeline and Equitable Production Co., now EQT: The first clue that you are in a cemetery is headstones. Duh.
The only reason Obama shut down embassies for the latest terrorist threat was to avoid another Benghazi, which he still denies knowing anything about.
The difference between Bill Clinton and George W. Bush concerning the Vietnam War is that Clinton received a high number in the draft lottery and was never called to serve. Bush, on the other hand, deserted his unit during a time of war. Bush committed a crime, Clinton didn't.
The Democrat complaining about Bush being addressed as "Mr. President" needs to pull their head out of the sand. They might be surprised to find out all former presidents, Democrat and Republican, are called "Mr. President."
It is disgusting that a narrow persuasion is allowed to characterize itself as "Christian" as though all the other denominations weren't good enough. You can't win converts to a point of view unless you get them to agree with you. You wind up alienating the very people you want to influence.
I won't sit here and say Arch Moore was a honest governor. At least our roads were paved and not patched. Question should be, What did he do that other West Virginia politicians haven't done? Using political insider information and contacts to make business deals. Same thing. They're in politics. They're crooked.
