If it's so hard for the "poor" to produce an ID for voting, what are they using to sign up for their free government handouts? Or is it a matter of, "it's not our money being wasted."
Charleston lost its heart and soul when stores on Capitol Street and the surrounding streets closed. Going to the bland, cold-hearted mall was never the same and I've never enjoyed Christmas shopping since. I haven't been to the mall in nearly 10 years, and don't miss it like I do the old Capitol Street.
Why is the property owner halfway up Montrose who's had a big tree laying on his house for over a year not responsible for doing any maintenance?
I can't believe someone was surprised that the movie "The Butler" was racist and anti-Republican. Oprah Winfrey was involved with it and we all should know by now what she stands for. I'm still in shock that they let Hanoi Jane play Nancy Reagan.
Wonder why those questioning an increase in the minimum wage don't mention the fact that those who would receive the increase would spend more, thus helping the economy. They won't put the excess in a bank in Switzerland, as would the people opposing the increase.
I think it's ridiculous to put marijuana in the same drug class as meth and crack. Marijuana has medicinal value for people with cancer and chronic pain. I don't get why our state is stuck in the 1930s. Marijuana isn't as bad as alcohol or tobacco.
"To initiate a war of aggression, therefore, is not only an international crime, it is the supreme international crime, differing only from other war crimes in that it contains within itself the accumulated evil of the whole." -- Nuremberg tribunal
Why would 'The most fitting punishment for Maj. Hasan ... ' be to burden American citizens with providing that psycho with food, shelter, and medical care for the rest of his worthless life? The death penalty is the only appropriate course of justice in the case.
I thought you had to show an ID to buy Sudafed. It is sold in mom and pop stores all over Boone County without anyone even asking their name, much less show an ID.
I'd be willing to bet that the person who said they would not see the movie "The Butler" because Jane Fonda was in it, voted for deserter George W. Bush for president.
I do believe political opposition to the ACA (affectionately known as Obamacare) comes from fear -- fear that if people accept it and it improves lives -- that it will provide proof that government done right can be helpful. Let's give it a chance, for the sake of the millions of un- and underinsured.
