Another year has come and gone and still there is no grocery store on Charleston's East End. How many more years will we have to wait?
I love Obamacare. For the first time in years, my pre-existing condition will be covered, and on top of that my premium went down over $300 a month.
The city of South Charleston does a great job keeping D Street clean but what about the rest of the streets. Chestnut Street and MacCorkle in Spring Hill are filthy.
Blame the owner, not the breed. I have two American pit bull terriers who my community adores very much. Chihuahuas are the real monsters.
Kent Carper wants to close a bar because of a shootout in the parking lot but I believe he is closing the wrong place. He should be closing the legislature for allowing the streets and communities to be flooded with uncontrolled assault weapons, so expect more shootouts near you.
The Innerviews with Ha To Ta is one of the most inspirational articles I've ever read. It's great to read of his love for West Virginia. I appreciate his giving back to society through his work, and I feel confident that his boys will have a positive impact on society. It shows that the "American Dream" is still attainable.

Who says West Virginia didn't go to a bowl. At the Belk Bowl I heard Ryan Switzer "from West Virginia" mentioned at least 30 times. Problem is, Ryan Switzer plays for North Carolina.
With the unemployment compensation gravy train finally rolling to a long overdue stop, I predict we will see an unemployment rate of 5 percent or less and the start of an actual economic recovery within the next couple months when the lazy, mostly Democratic contingent who have sat on the workforce sidelines for years realize the jig is up and magically are able to find a job now and start paying their own pay.
It's bad enough the GOP shut down of the economy costing jobs, and billions of dollars in the name of cutting spending. Now they cut unemployment to win elections by denying votes to the new homeless. The smoke screens put up they have family values is not what they are full of.
Friday evening at one of the busiest intersections in town -- Corridor G at Walmart -- a SCPD sport-utility vehicle was driving very aggressive and not using lights or siren almost hitting cars. If the police are on a call they should have to use lights and siren.
