Our congressional leaders say that the costs of extending unemployment benefits need to be offset with budget cuts. Couldn't they just use the same fund that paid the $24 billion for the unnecessary government shutdown?
Based on what you see in the Readers Voice, it seems that Marshall defeated WVU in the Military Bowl. Congratulations Marshall! I thought you were playing Maryland but obviously I was wrong.
I get so tired of Fox News and the Republicans standing in front of American people and lying about Obamacare with no shame whatsoever. They state that the governors setting up insurance exchanges have had very little problems, but remember the insurance companies are the insurers, not the government.
Gazette readers tried to determine if Shelley Capito is for coal or for gas. Just understand that Barack Obama and his administration are against both coal and gas and the reader should really figure what he or she will do without coal and gas when the temperature again goes below zero for any period of time.
Sen. Manchin: Cut foreign aid. Not unemployment or veterans' benefits.
"Obama may be the best economic president ever" was the headline over Froma Harrop's Tuesday column. It made me laugh so hard I could not read the rest of the paper. It is good to see that the Gazette has a sense of humor.
WVEA ranks West Virginia teacher pay 48th in the nation. Wikipedia ranks West Virginia median income 49th. Our teachers should be grateful.
Was the Wendy Williams show cancelled from WSAZ? Do the viewers not get an explanation? Shouldn't we be told if it has moved to another day and time?
To the bigot who says he's glad he lives in West Virginia where gays can be discriminated against and cannot marry: Who knows, maybe the next movement to eradicate discrimination will be against bigots.
Why is there not a ground-swell of anger with regard to the Jan. 4 Gazette story regarding the misconduct of the law firm of Jackson Kelly in the Fox v. Elk Run Coal case wherein the firm withheld pathology reports supporting the black lung claim of coal miner Fox? A three-judge panel at the 4th Circuit denied that withholding such evidence was "a fraud upon the court." Jackson Kelly's conduct was clearly unethical, if not much worse.
It was too cold for kids to go to school but they had no trouble heading out to mall, movies and community centers to play basketball. They're loving these days off now, but in a few months the same people will be complaining about having summer vacation shortened.
Where's the Alyce Faye Bragg column? I haven't seen it for two weeks. Alyce, where are you? Come back.
