Where are the 33 truck loads of bottled water we were promised? I do not want bulk water that they filled at WVAW. I want pure, clean water in sealed gallon jugs to wash our dishes and bathe. Why would we trust the water company not to give us the same contaminated water that is in our tap?
We too in the Lincoln County side of Alum Creek are having trouble getting our trash picked up by Allied Waste. It has been nearly a month since the last pick up. I understand that weather and etc; but come on. They call and tell you when they'll be there, then they don't show. My question is, if they don't pick up for a entire month, why should I be forced to pay for a service that was not provided? I think that the Attorney General Office should get involved.
Yes, the war on poverty was started by President Johnson, and the reason for its failure can be directly attributed to the number of Republican presidents since. Presidents Bush, Bush and Reagan have destroyed what little advances we have made in eliminating poverty.
If the chemical spill was a material used to wash coal and the company was owned by a coal company owner, then yes, we can blame coal for the contamination of our water, as we do much of the pollution in our state.
My experience with newly hired college graduates tells me four years of school they're not prepared for the real world. I don't like my tax dollars being used to bail out the college loan industry.
All you conservatives crying about the resurgence of al Qaeda in Iraq realize, of course, that there was no al Qaeda in Iraq before our ill-fated stupid invasion opened the door for them.
Sarah Palin may have turned off some potential voters in the Midwest with her recent comments concerning how much she enjoyed eating rice.
A question I've seen posed by other people several times, but have yet to see answered: If the Freedom Industries tank had not leaked, and had the Crude MCHM been used in its normal capacity, to clean coal, where would it have gone? Does every gallon of Crude MCHM that's used end up in the river anyway?
Can we really trust the water testing that was featured on the evening news? The person taking the samples for ALS was at the Town Hall meeting and said that he drank and showered with the water during the emergency and had no ill effects! Really?
To the person who asked how Republicans can be blamed for our problems since Democrats have held power "since FDR?" That's just another example of one who cannot distinguish politics from policy. Just because an elected official has a D after his name doesn't mean he doesn't pursue conservative economic policies, i.e., opposing regulation or oversight, low taxes on corporations (been to McDowell lately?), support of socially conservative causes.
A prescription is needed to buy pain pills yet WV has a huge problem with illegal buying/selling/taking them. Will prescription cold medications really solve any problem?
"Feds don't plan to sample water in homes" WVAWC pipes are plastic or iron. The pipes in older homes and many newer homes are copper. How do the chemicals react with copper or with the lead in older solder? No one in our government is asking that and don't seem to want to know.Last year, they attacked the power company. This year, the water company. I wish these armchair quarterback experts could spend some time running a utility company and see if they could do a better job.
