The person who said that a liberal would smell licorice in 10 glasses of bottled water is confused. It is rednecks that are worried about a little smell of licorice in the water; liberals have a basic understanding of chemistry. Most rednecks think chemistry is just a way of making meth.
Thank you, Henry Waxman, for 40 years of service to America. Would that West Virginia could have a representative such as you. The truth is, and it's hell for conservatives, big government helps us, while unregulated companies just give shoddy service at increased cost.
Vent Line publishes the highest concentration of ignorance per column inch I've ever read.
This is to the person who called a Venter stupid because he called Obama a liar: If you have listened to Obama all these years and think he has not lied, anyone could pull the wool over your eyes.
While I am certainly convinced the management of the chemical company and possibly the water company should be in jail over their handling of the leak, take away any possibility of civil trials and the prospect of financial gain and then see how much interest there is in clean water by the trial lawyers, the media, Erin Brockovich, and a large number of the residents who are filling the town-hall meetings and in front of the television news cameras each night.
The Feb. 1 Saturday Gazette-Mail stated the West Virginia poverty rate is among the poorest of all states. The Democrats have been in charge of this state since FDR was president. I would like to know how this is the fault of the Republicans, as stated in the editorial. Seems someone is a little off base here. Of course, this editorial was on the Gazette editorial page, so what did you expect from the ultra liberals?
Did the citizens of Mingo County sign a petition that justice should not be done? No. Their good qualities of mercy have been twisted and abused. Mr. Goodwin should find a backbone and get back to Mingo County and do his job. I suspect he, and Carte too, should be answering some questions as well.
The editor of the Gazette says he can't understand why West Virginians are voting Republican. I can enlighten him. I am 74 years old, and Democrats have been in control most of my life. Just look at the condition of our state. Enough said.
