Sadly, many politicians claim reimbursements, salaries, health care at cheapest rates, pensions, etc., for which they shouldn't qualify. State members of boards are worse, allowed to claim working over 20 hours per week while actually attending, unprepared, a few meetings each year. All need investigating.
The addictive properties of tobacco are so powerful that even though its initial use causes nausea, people reach for a second cigarette. Tobacco doesn't make you high, curb your hunger, make you laugh or do anything than its intended purpose -- to relieve the addiction it causes.
I recommend Michael Crichton's book, "State of Fear" as the best expose ever written on the pseudoscience of "Global Warming" and the fanatics who support it.
What effect is the polluted water having on local colleges that are trying to recruit and retain students for next year? As a parent, I would be reluctant to send my child to a college where I fear the safety of the water.
I am both appalled and disgusted with the stupidity of drivers who are passing on our pothole-riddled roads. This afternoon, while trying to navigate Pennsylvania Avenue in St. Albans, I, and the vehicle behind me, was passed by a brainless individual in a red van, and moments later, a silver pickup truck. I don't believe it will register to these drivers until they cause a horrific accident. Even then, it will be a mute point -- if you survive.
Typical governor's office intelligence. At about 9:30 a.m. Thursday a memo was sent out that only essential state employees need to report to work. This after most employees report to work at 7-8:00.
The obvious answer to those who brag about Fox (Faux?) News being number one in the ratings is that intelligent people have always been in the minority. For those worried about Obama's popularity, I remind you that Abraham Lincoln was not a very popular president.
My vote for the silliest Olympic 'sport' goes to curling. Tiddlywinks and quarter bounce would be more exciting to watch.
