WELCH, W.Va. -- Hatfield-McCoy Trails users soon will be able to travel more than 150 miles through southern West Virginia without leaving the trail system.

Executive Director Jeff Lusk says a 9-mile connector system linking the Pinnacle Creek and Indian Ridge trail systems is expected to be completed by the end of June.

The new system also will connect the Hatfield McCoy Trails to Twin Falls State Park and the towns of Northfork, Keystone, Ashland, Pineville and Mullens.

Lusk says another trail system in Mercer County will be connected when it opens in the fall.

Trail officials also plan to build a visitors center in Mercer County either next year or in 2012.
